While the property was very nice, the manager who stayed on property throughout the stay was problematic. He welcomed us to the property and told us we could use the fire pit on site as long as we obtained approval from the fire department and didn’t have anyone stay overnight. That evening, we got approval from the fire department and had some extended family over. They parked next to a vehicle near the edge of the property that had been there the length of the time we were there. After a bit, one of my nephews that was visiting left early and drove out across the grass he was parked on. His car is quite loud and after he got on the street, he peeled out. Not great, but not harmful. The property manager then came down and told us that he had driven over the septic system and was not welcome back. We apologized profusely as it was embarrassing and believed it was the correct place for him to park. He then told us that all of the cars should ONLY be on the gravel driveway, so we had the other 3 cars move. Then, a car full of women we did not know showed up and said the property manager had told them to come over any time there was a fire. I told them we were renting for the weekend and it was just our family there. Then they talked to the property manager, who invited them to an unrented building right by the fire pit where he proceeded to sit with them and drink whiskey for a couple hours. The strangers and unstable behavior made everyone very uncomfortable.

"We’re glad you enjoyed the property and beautiful setting. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- The on-site caretaker is a longtime family member who takes great pride in caring for the home and grounds, and many guests have shared fond memories of his warm welcome.
- Visitors who stopped by during your stay were past guests and friends, as the area has a very neighborly spirit.
- To protect the septic area, we ask that all vehicles remain on the gravel driveway, which we’ll continue to make clear for guests.
Thanks for your feedback."
It was a lovely stay. The home encourages you to be outside with a lovely deck and beach walk ability from the door (a short walk across a shared yard to the beach). The proximity to the ferry is phenomenal.

The Steilacoom Ferry was simple to navigate online tickets as well as boarding. During the short ride across the water to Anderson island we saw dolphins and tons of jellyfish. The VRBO was incredibly easy to find from the ferry docking- maybe a 5 minute drive & just two turns. The back deck of the VRBO faces the water. You can just sit out and watch the sound first thing in the morning and at the end of the day. Having complete access to the waterfront as well as kayaks was amazing. During low tide youll find amazing seashells, tiny crabs and more. We wached seals, ducks, bald eagles and listened to owls at night. We swam at Lake Florence - which was definitely a highlight. Two slides at the lake, volleyball net, floating docks and picnic tables made it so fun and easy. The amenities at the VRBO property and at Anderson Island made for an amazing trip.
