  • Mountain Retreat with Hot Tub

    5/5

We had a fantastic day at this property! The house is great and easily includes enough room for two couples with two kids, so the two of us had plenty of room. We really enjoyed the hot tub and mountain views. We were really close to one of the ski slopes, so staying here if you are a skier would be ideal. And it was just a short 10 minute walk to the local market to get supplies. The owner reached out to make sure we had everything we needed.

  • Anniversary weekend

    5/5

We had such a relaxing weekend! The house was cozy and we had everything we needed and more!! We enjoyed the hot tub every day. We have voted that king sized bed, the most comfortable VRBO bed, ever! We cooked several meals at the house but also wnjoyed the restaurants at Wintergreen.

  • Probably better for skiing in winter

    3/5

Property was ok nothing in particular stood out. There was no mountain view from anywhere on the deck.

Flooring in the house, bathrooms, and general decor need updating. The kitchen utensils, fry pans, and pots, were old and of the type that seemed to be discarded by the owners. The property seemed more like a camp than a resort property. There was mold on the bathroom curtain that required us to wash the curtain before use. Otherwise the place seemed clean, but as a cabin the woods, susceptible to spiders and ants.

The property was close to the Wintergreen Lodge, however the pools, the exclusive restaurant, and the fishing ponds are not available to the lessors of this property. This was a disappointment but in fairness we should have checked this out before hand.

The property served our purpose and in general was adequate. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub and the price was reasonable. Coffee in the morning on the deck was peaceful. I suspect this would be very convenient and reasonable place for a ski trip. This is a nice area for adults but we found little to do for a the teenager and the child in our party. We were there over the memorial day holiday.

    Manager's Response:

Owner's response: "Tom, We always appreciate hearing from our guests, but the homeowner would like to take a moment to clarify a few things raised in your review:

    - We are happy that you found the property ok although we wish you would have had our usual 5-star experience. During the summer months, it is rare for anyone to have mountain views due to all of the foliage of the trees surrounding most homes. We have a lot of growth because of the rain and sunshine
    - We have made several updates to the property, we have replaced our pots and pans and removed anything that was outdated. Our living room and master bedroom furniture have all been updated. We replaced all our interior doors and fireplace surround with stone. We feel with all of the changes and updates we have done there is not much else to do
    - We take cleanliness very seriously and have not had any complaints or issues, but we will share your feedback with the cleaners to ensure everything is looked at and is 100% guest-ready
    - Regarding the spiders and ants because of the area, we do have the occasional pest, but we are proactive in treatments so that they do not overrun the home, we apologize if you did see a few
    - We do not have any control over the Wintergreen amenities at the indoor pool and tennis. We can offer a pass to the Rhoad Farm Pool and pickleball courts.

We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests. We will continue to deliver the 5-star experiences we are known for."

  • Could have been better

    3/5

The house was in a beautiful area and the host was friendly. She answered questions that I had. We stay in a lot of places and rarely complain. The one major issue that we had was spiders in the house, We killed 13 spiders in the 3 days they were in the bedrooms, and in the bathrooms. Two out of the three nights that we stayed spiders were found in the upstairs bedroom as well. Dead bugs in the corner of the house was also found. I do understand that it is a very woody area and these things will sometimes happen. But seemed way too much! If they are getting in then there must be an issue of how they're getting in. We reached out to the owner and she apologized that we had that experience And she said sometimes it's just the season that they get in. She had told us where the bug spray is but we could not find it. We went out to buy spray so that we can spray the beds. Also a spotless, clean place is everything, probably due to the fact that I had owned my own cleaning business. I don't feel the house was clean the way that it should be. A lot of dust on The ceiling fans, cobwebs in every room as well, bathroom sink had splashes of toothpaste on the spout. Living room was nice, kitchen was small but ok. At the end of the day I felt like it was overpriced especially with what we had to deal with between the spiders, dead bugs, dust and cobwebs. We paid almost $1,200 for 3 days. Other than that the area is beautiful, and the host seemed nice and responsive.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Olivia, thanks for taking the time to review your stay. After reading your feedback, the homeowner wanted to share the following:
We sincerely apologize for the issue with spiders. Despite our thorough cleaning of the home just two weeks before your arrival, it appears that some eight-legged visitors found their way in between then and your check-in.
We did take proactive steps by asking our cleaning partner to inspect the house the day before your arrival, but no spiders were spotted at that time. Nevertheless, we understand the importance of ensuring a pest-free environment for our guests, and we're committed to taking extra precautions to address this issue before our next guests arrive. We'll ensure the spiders are gone before our next guests.
Thank you once again for sharing your feedback with us.

  • Beautiful Cozy and Clean

    5/5

This is the second time renting here and both times have been Amazing. Special shout out to the host Deb who literally was a phone call away to immediately answer any questions! Such a cozy private warm vibe to this home for cooking and reading and quiet respite from the daily adventures! Super stocked kitchen and abundant towels/ linens. Incredibly CLEAN and wonderful views with great natural lighting from windows all along the back of the home. Easy day trips we enjoyed were hiking Crabtree Falls , biking along the Ty river, walking thru the blue ridge mile long train tunnel, and a trip to the impressive D Day Memorial.

    Thank you Deb!!!
