  My wife and I recently stayed here for 3 nights. When we arrived there were issues from the start. We arrived 2 hours past the available check-in time to find the property manager there cleaning the house. She said their cleaning lady called out and she had to rush to do the cleaning herself. I can understand that frustrating as it may be.

  The biggest issues came with the condition of the property as compared to the photos provided in the listing. The listing images are clearly several years old as the house has a fresh coat of paint and the landscaping is well maintained in the images. We arrived to a house with peeling paint, rotting wood columns on the pergola that had been covered with white tape, mold in the gazebo, old bags of mulch left lying in the garden beds, tall grass and weeds across the property, a toilet mat laid across a railing outside, and broken glass around the fire pit. Additionally several of the towels had stains, coffee was left in the coffee pot, dirty silverware in the drawer, and dishes that needed washing before use due to stains.

  The view is nice, the neighborhood quiet, and the nearby town lovely. The "beach access" is oddly through the yard of another house a few doors down and is covered with wooden barriers along the sand. My wife and I never used it. I contacted the guest contact the evening we arrived regarding the issues and after two days received no reply. I contacted Evolve directly who coordinated a partial refund of our stay with the homeowner. It was less than I hoped for it but it was something. Unless the property has a massive overhaul, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

  The property is a quaint cottage that sits right on the Chesapeake Bay. The amenities are simple but adequate and comfortable (don't expect high-end luxury, though). The owner and property manager were very attentive and a pleasure to work with. The only issue we had was unrelated to the house; a big Nor'Easter resulted in storm surge that caused the Chesapeake to overflow the seawall and flood the waterfront neighborhood, including the property. Absent that, it would have been the perfect getaway weekend.

  The house is quirky and fun. The view is incredible and we all felt at peace just hanging out in the backyard, feet from the crashing waves. We will definitely return!

  We stayed at this cottage for a weekend trip, and overall it was a beautiful, quirky spot with a lot of character. The property itself is gorgeous, and you can tell the home has been loved for many years. Personally, I found the imperfections charming, but I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who needs everything to be in perfect working order. There’s definitely some structural wear (think things held together with duct tape and love), the bathroom door doesn’t fully close or lock, and the foundation isn’t exactly flat.That said, if you’re a group of 20-somethings like us looking for a cozy place to lounge around, read, and spend time in the backyard, it’s perfect. Just be aware of a few important details: there is no direct beach access on the property itself, you’ll need to walk a few houses down to a designated spot. We also weren’t told until after check-in that dogs aren’t allowed on that beach, which was frustrating. And while dogs are welcome in the backyard of the house, they are not welcome by the surrounding neighbors or community, so this is not the most dog-friendly environment overall.It was also pretty difficult to get in contact with the property manager, as it took two days to get a reply to a question we had during our stay.Overall, the cottage could use some TLC, but for the right group, especially those who don’t mind a little rustic charm, it offers plenty of character and a beautiful setting.
