Our stay was couldn’t have been any better. The cutest and most artistic home we have slept in. The inside and outside were clean and well kept. I would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting to stay in Roanoke.

  • Great Roanoke Stay

    5/5

This older but well-modernized house offers a quiet and comfortable stay in the Roanoke suburbs. Surprisingly large inside, easy room for up to 3 couples or family with multiple kids. The house is dog friendly with a fully fenced backyard. Two car garage with room for 2 more cars in the driveway and an electric vehicle charger. Gas grill and hot tub on the patio. Inside, very well-appointed with 3 bedrooms (ceiling fans in each), comfortable living room with large-screen TV, a home theater in the basement, and a well-stocked kitchen with all the basics (electric stove, countertop toaster oven, coffeemaker and Keurig) and a good selection of staples, condiments, and spices/seasonings. Washer/dryer in the basement which worked well. Bedding/linens were comfortable and the front bedroom has an adjustable Sleep Number king size. Nice bathroom and shower on the main level. Throughout the home, vibrant and eye-catching decorations make for good conversation starters. Central AC is efficient and effective. Keyless entry on front and back doors worked well throughout the visit.

I wouldn't call these negatives, but a few things to be aware of. The neighborhood has some sidewalks and you can walk to a couple of restaurants and other businesses, but there isn't much to do in the immediate area, and some of the local choices require you to cross Brambleton Ave., a semi-busy thoroughfare with no crosswalks. You'll want to hop in the car if going downtown or to Wasena Park - these are about a 10/12 minute drive away. The backyard faces Brambleton Ave. so there's a fairly constant drone of auto traffic and some noise from the nearby businesses out on the patio; we didn't find it too bothersome but it's not a completely tranquil experience. Importantly, no road noise makes it into the house with the windows shut. We noticed only one very minor maintenance issue, which is that the ignition switch on the gas grill didn't work (can light it with a match).

Overall, this house is an outstanding base for a visit to Roanoke, great jumping off point for the city center, hiking opportunities up or down the Blue Ridge Parkway, or local wineries, breweries, and distilleries.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and thorough review. We are so glad you and your group had a wonderful time and enjoyed the house. We were not aware of the gas grill igniter and will look into it right away. Glad you were still able to light it with a match in the interim!

We would love to host your party again!

We thoroughly enjoyed this house! It was clean, well appointed, and creatively decorated. Beds and furniture were comfy and just perfect for our needs. Our dogs were very secure in the large backyard. The home felt private and my favorite spot was on the covered deck, watching the birds and playing with our pups. I would definitely recommend this house and if we ever return to Roanoke, we will stay here!

The home smelled of mold / mildew and pets. Kitchen floor has sunken portions, WiFi was very weak as it was a “hot spot which I hadn’t realized even still existed and the furniture was uncomfortable. The location was amazing and the host was super nice.

We want our guests to arrive at a vacation home that’s 100% ready for their stay, so we appreciate you sharing this feedback. We followed up with the homeowner, and they wanted to share the following:
    - Since welcoming guests 16 months ago, this home has earned more than 40 reviews, the majority of which have been 5 stars. Prior feedback hasn’t reflected concerns with mold, odors, or flooring, but we’ll be keeping a closer eye moving forward.
    - The WiFi in the home is actually 1 GB fiber optics with a high-end router installed just six months ago, so we’ll double-check to ensure everything is working as expected.
    - Our caretaker checked in during your stay and understood things were going well at that time.
    - We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the location and found the host welcoming, and we’ll continue making sure the home lives up to the high standards travelers expect.
We appreciate your feedback so we can continue improving for future guests!
