Overall the property met our needs as a family of 7. We were not at the property much during the day, but there was enough space when we were. It was nice to have space to spread out and to be in a quiet and convenient neighborhood to the highway. It wasn't a house you'd probably feel comfortable hanging out in for a down day as the dining table didn't allow for much seating and there was no deck furniture. A couple notes, it is an older property and it shows. If we had younger kids (our youngest is 7), the stairs would've been treacherous and there was no child gate. Additionally, the stairs were very creaky and soft, so with 2 bedrooms in the basement (one all the way in the back) there is a lot of noisy back and forth. Having a yard was nice, but it wasn't mowed, so we didn't go back there. There were also a few places in the house that anyone over 5'10" would hit their heads on either a fixture or soffit. Again, it met our needs and for the price was fine.

Hi Shane, we want our guests to arrive at a vacation home that’s 100% ready for their stay, so we appreciate you sharing both the highlights and areas for improvement. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- We cut the lawn weekly, weather permitting, but recent heavy rain has made that more difficult—we’re keeping a closer eye on timing so the yard is more guest-ready.
- We’re sorry the stairs felt tricky to navigate. Due to the tight layout, a safety gate may not be feasible, but we do have a note on the foyer closet door advising guests to leave it open to help block the drop. We’re also updating our check-in instructions to highlight this for families with young children.
- We’re planning to add patio furniture so guests can better enjoy the outdoor space during their stay.
- The dining room is compact and can’t accommodate a larger table, but we’ve made sure the layout is clearly shown in the photos so guests know what to expect.
Thanks for taking the time to leave your review.
For us, this was perfect. Nice neighborhood, not far from shopping or dining. Really a nice house with everything you need.

The stay was good. Close to the Amtrak auto train station. Close to a lot of places we wanted to visit.

The house was clean and pretty well equipped with everything we needed. What was difficult was that we somehow missed the split foyer layout of the house. Tough for toddlers, disabled children, and older folks, of which we had all three! We were doing lots of prep work for a celebration of life event, and the small kitchen and split foyer was tough for that as well. The owner came by during our stay and he was absolutely fantastic! Helped out with the trash, didn’t get any kind of an attitude over my having not split recyclables out properly, allowed us a late checkout when we had a last minute minor crisis, and cheerfully agreed to take all the extra food items we were leaving behind from our event to a food pantry for us when we were late getting out for our flight. I was so stressed, and he was absolutely amazing!I wish he managed the properly fully himself instead of using Evolve. Evolve was quick to answer my inquiries, but rarely had full answers. It would have gone more smoothly if I could have communicated exclusively with the owner. He was much more helpful to me than the property management company, though the company certainly tried to be helpful. As long as you don’t have somebody who shouldn’t be going up and downstairs or whom the stairs are a danger to, this is a great place to stay with lots of rooms with beds, and a wonderful owner!
