I've stayed in a lot of short-term rentals, and I own one myself so I'm fully aware of the quirks that each one has, weird furniture layouts, odd tv placements, strange bedding choices, hot and cold zones, horrible kitchen utensils, it's just part of the STR experience. This one had a few particular quirks that are worth mentioning. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. the bathroom is an en-suite to the master bedroom. The other bedroom doesn't have a door, and the ceiling is vaulted so the two rooms share a ceiling, the dividing wall is 10' tall but the ceiling is open, so you can hear everything from one room to the other. The third bedroom is on the walkout basement level, it has a pass-through full bathroom meaning you have to first walk through the bathroom to get to the bedroom, the bedroom is pretty cramped, we had to move the bed up against the wall just to get the door to be able to be shut. It was a nuisance, so one of just slept out in living room area on the pull-out couch, which was actually very comfortable for a pull-out couch. The bar stools around the kitchen island were put together without any pocket screws so they fall apart as soon as you move them, the transition edge from the laminate flooring to basement stairs is loose and will catch your foot if you're not careful. The hot tub water was kind of funky; it needed to be shocked and was not done before our arrival. The outside trash bin was full, so we had to haul our trash down the hill each day on our way to the city. The sewage ejection pump wasn't working correctly so black water came up through the shower drain, but the owner's rep was super responsive, and a plumber arrived within 30 minutes and fixed the issue. I suggest renting an SUV to access the property, the last bit of road to the property is gravel and dirt, and the driveway is steep and gravel. Nothing was major but it was important for future guests to fully understand what they are renting, I felt the pictures didn't properly convey certain things. The location was absolutely awesome for our needs, 5 minutes from downtown Midway, 25 minutes from Park City main street, 30 minutes from tubing and skiing at Woodward Park. 15 minutes from the office (the snowmobiling is in the national forest which is 35 minutes from the office) of Lofty Peaks Snowmobiling. The scenery views from the house overlooking Midway are great. Mountain Views from a hot tub.
The property was very clean, well kept and you could tell it had been recently renovated. Wifi was great, appliances were new and wonderful. Tvs all over the house which was nice.
There are a few things that renters should know...the upstairs bedrooms all share the same ceiling, so though they are separated by walls, they don't go all the way to the roof, so there are some sound/loud issues there. Also, if you are going to stay here in the winter time with ANY snow at all, know that the roads DO NOT get plowed. You will need a 4x4 vehicle for sure and even then, we had to contact management to come plow/shovel, salt and sand the steep driveway to be able to use it.
We stayed in this cabin for a couple of nights with our three kids. It’s a very cute cabin with modern furnishings.
We loved the deck off of the main floor that had hot tub and nice couch & fire pit. The view from there was amazing. We really enjoyed that space.
The basement was such a fun hangout spot where we played games. They have games and great books stocked and a fun game table that has foosball, air hockey, and a pool table. My kids loved it.
The cabin is three levels and it was nice to have a bathroom on each level.
The Bedroom that we think was supposed to be the master bedroom was upstairs and had an open walkway/hallway (couldn’t completely shut it off because there was not a door) and it shared the same ceiling with the space right next to it where the bunkbeds were. It was super loud and not very private. The only real bedroom that had a door to shut everything off was in the basement. There are no closets or dressers to put your luggage in any of the bedrooms.
The driveway was rather steep and would almost be impossible to get up in the winter with snow. Our normal little car struggled a little bit because we got there in the evening and it was hard to see too.
There’s not really outdoor space for kids to play and explore right outside the cabin if that’s what you’re looking for. There was a fun path/trail about an eighth of a mile or so down the gravel road.
The cabin was only a few minute drive into Midway that had a yummy pizza shop and lots of different restaurants to try out. Heber is not too far from that. We did take advantage of Walmart delivery and had some groceries delivered. That was super nice that it was in the vicinity.
Nice location with beautiful view of the Heber valley. Hot tub and sauna both clean and like new. Would return.
