• Great place to Stay

  We used this house as a launching pad to Bryce, Capital Reef and the Grand Staircase. Escalante is a great town. Some nice food options especially Escalante. Mercantile had really good pizza. The home was very convenient to a lot. Accommodations were clean, had everything you needed and comfortable. Nice quiet neighborhood

• Great Location, But Had Some Issues

  The house is spacious and is in a good location, central to Escalante. It was our home base for several days of activities and worked well for that. It's an older house and could use a bit of attention. The master bed frame is broken, making the bed extremely noisy if you even sit on it or roll over. We had to kill a few spiders each day in the bathrooms (not a huge deal, but might really bother some people). THE BIG ISSUE FOR US - on our 3rd day, a man walked up out of the basement unexpectedly. He told us he had been doing work on the house in the basement. We had no idea he was there and no notification had been given to us in advance. Apparently he came in through the garage entrance, which was locked and off limits to us. We don't know how long he was there before he left and we saw him. Needless to say, we were pretty uncomfortable with the situation and my family felt less safe the remainder of our stay. I shared this concern with the specified Guest Contact 2 weeks ago via email and have received no response, so I'm leaving this review.

  - The house is indeed older and we appreciate you highlighting areas needing attention. We will address the broken master bed frame to ensure it's sturdy and quiet for future guests.
  - We understand that encountering spiders can be bothersome. Our cleaning team will take additional steps to mitigate this issue.
  - The situation with the handyman was not handled as it should have been. He was supposed to check for occupants and coordinate with guests before accessing the property. We apologize for this oversight and will ensure better communication and procedures in the future to prevent such incidents.

• Charming Home

  Our stay was great. This home is large, clean, well equipped, and the neighborhood is quiet. If you are looking for a place to stay in Escalante— I highly recommend this home. The VRBO description and pictures are accurate.
