  We had a great time at Lake Buchanan. This two bedroom house was spacious and very clean. There was lots of hot water for our group. Plenty of towels. The kitchen and living room were welcoming. Just what we needed for an impromptu get together with family.

• nice & quiet

  We were seeking a peaceful retreat between a chaotic family Christmas and New Year’s party, and this place delivered exactly what we needed. Perhaps due to the winter season, it was incredibly quiet and serene—just what we were looking for! Our dog thoroughly enjoyed the vast open space to explore and was fascinated by the many deer wandering around.

  The living space was spacious, and the kitchen was well-equipped for our needs. We especially loved the chiminea on the patio, which made for cozy evenings by the fire every night of our stay.

  That said, we should have researched the area a bit more, as we’re out-of-state visitors. The lake's water level is very low, so it’s not within walking distance—something to keep in mind depending on your expectations. The nearest store is about 30 minutes away, though they do offer Instacart delivery for an additional fee.

  Here are some tips for future visitors:

  Bring plenty of firewood and charcoal if you plan to grill.

  Note that there’s no dishwasher, so paper plates might come in handy.

  Be cautious on the patio as there are fire ants. We recommend wearing gloves when adding wood to the fire and keeping your feet covered.

  If having a TV in the primary bedroom is important to you, plan accordingly. The room doesn’t have one, so we moved an older TV from the kids’ room and used our Apple TV to stream.

  On the positive side, the couch was large and very comfortable, lab and human approved!

  Suggestions for the owners:

  Consider upgrading the bed and bedding in the primary bedroom for added comfort (this is why we didn't give 5 stars)

  Adding a streaming-compatible TV in the primary bedroom would be a great touch.

  Overall, this was a great place for some much-needed tranquility. Thank you for the experience!
