  • Not what I expected

    3/5

The property was easy to find. The key was easy access. The porches are gorgeous. We had our 9 year old grandson with us and he loved the bunk room. The problems were that there were ants in the kitchen the cook top not all burners work. The ac was not accessible bc of thermostat you had to have a code to change the temp. So it was warm during the day 78. There were very few bath towels. Upstairs there are no curtains behind the bed so all traffic at night shine thru and you better like getting up early bc the sunrise is right thru those windows. The owners are very nice I just think there are a few things that need to improve the stay.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Tom, we want our guests to feel comfortable and informed during their stay, so we appreciate you sharing your feedback. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your review, and they wanted to share the following:
    - We let you know in our welcome letter before arrival that we’ve been addressing a small ant issue in the kitchen, and we’ve since hired a pest control company to treat the exterior and interior of the home, plus added ant traps.
    - Unfortunately, due to the age of our fishing cottage, the A/C runs at full capacity in the summer, and on very hot days it can range from 72–78 degrees at peak times during the day. We recommend keeping lower-level blinds and curtains closed to help maintain cooler temperatures. Additionally, we’re getting quotes for a new roof and additional insulation to improve comfort next summer.
    - We provide around 12 beach towels for guest use, and we learned from your stay that having both beach and bath towels available would better meet your expectations.
    - One stove burner was not plugged in correctly, and we’ll do a better job ensuring all are checked before each arrival.
We appreciate your insight so we can keep making the home even better for future guests.

  • A weekend of relaxation.

My wife and I enjoy your time at this cozy cottage. We had a small problem with ants. The fishing was not good but, overall we had a great time of relaxing on the patio.

  • Great house, very private

    5/5

We had a great time fishing and fellowshipping. The only thing was the house was not on the bay side, it was on the bayou side. Still easy for fishing though.

  • Peaceful and Perfect for Fishing

    5/5

The perfect place to relax and great location for fishing. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook at home. The bed upstairs was quite comfortable and I loved that you had views of Matagorda Bay and Blind Bayou from the bedroom upstairs. The upstairs porch had a great view of Matagorda Bay or a view overlooking Blind Bayou in the back. The firepit was a great addition to our night fishing and we loved the grill/smoker to cook hamburgers and ribs. You're only neighbor is far enough away so you still have your privacy. You can walk across the street and get some good fishing in at Matagorda Bay. While we were there, we caught some black drum, crabs, and trout. We will definitely be back!
