Mildew in rental air conditioner
1/5 I didn't stay at this property because when I walked into the cottage the main room air conditioner smelled of mildew and I have asthma. And even with that wall unit air conditioner and a portable air conditioner unit in the bedroom window the cooling was inadequate. The space was mildewed. There also was no privacy with one floor to ceiling window in the kitchen area without a window covering next to some outside stairs.
There were large fire pits in opposite yards next door on both sides. If I breath smoke I would be in the hospital. Air conditioners pull in outside air. This was a disaster that I wanted to avoid. The owner would not refund me so he got to keep the $1330.

Hi Pamela, we take it seriously when guests feel uncomfortable during their stay, and we're sorry to hear that the property wasn't a good fit for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
-Both the main and portable A/C units were serviced and cleaned just days before your arrival to ensure they were working properly, especially during the hot and humid weather.
-The A/C units recycle interior air rather than pulling air from outside, and the thermostat was maintaining a temperature of 72°F at the time of your visit.
-The neighbors’ fire pits are approximately 50 feet away, and given the summer conditions, no fires were burning during your stay.
-For added privacy, a 6-foot trifold standing screen is available and located near the kitchen window to block outside views.
-As the cottage is located directly on the water, some moisture in the air is expected, but we’ve had no prior complaints of mildew. However, we'll take another look to ensure the environment is as comfortable as possible.

CUTE LITTLE PROPERTY
5/5 THE HOUSE WAS KIND OF HARD TO GET TO, YOU HAVE TO WALK AROUND THE OWNERS DECK. BUT ONCE YOU DID, IT WAS A DELIGHT. THE HOUSE IS VERY CLEAN. VERY WELL MAINTAINED. VERY CLOSE TO THE WATER. WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY, VERY QUIET AND SEREENE
