We had a wonderful time at this property. It had plenty of room, looked just like it was pictured, and the pool was equally nice and clean as well. We will certainly stay at this property again.

This property was just what I was looking for. Far enough away from the seawall to get away from crowds but still within reach to make the day trips in. House was the perfect size for my family (4 adults, 1 toddler) and the pool was used quite often. House was clean upon arrival, everything was easily accessible, and the property manager was very responsive for one bit of info that wasn't made available up front. Cargo lift was a nice bonus considering the heat and ages of some of the guests. Would definitely book this property again in the same situation.
This place needs a complete and detail cleaning, starting with the walls and baseboards. It needs to be exterminated for roaches. I was so afraid that they would get into our luggage, and thank God they didn’t. We checked everything before we left. The microwave that is above the stove did not work. They were called and she said someone would bring one out and put it up. He brought it out and left. Each time we left we had to fool with the lock that wouldn’t work, and had to go down stairs to a lock box to get the key each time. The banister on the balcony was loss and about to fall. There was a pool that had a cleaner in the bottom, so we called to see if we needed to take it out before getting in it. They never called us back. The pool funiture pads were ripped to shreds and not able to sit in. The third bedroom was so deceiving. It was the pool room and had no bathroom, so if you needed to go to the bathroom you would have to go outside and go up the stairs, and fool with the lock to use the bathroom. I do not recommend this place.

This issue arose following Hurricane Beryl, which led us to close the property for nearly a week to address extensive cleanup and pest treatment. Despite our thorough efforts, it appears that the treatment did not fully resolve the problem.

Last week we experienced a wonderful stay at Galveston Getaway. The location, though not on the beach, is in a quiet neighborhood literally 3 minutes away by car.
The home is nicely furnished and clean. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, pots, pans and utensils. There are beach towels for the guests to use. For us, its most unique and advantageous features are a wonderful pool and a lift for transporting coolers, boxes and luggage to the upper level. The pool is very clean and has a shaded portion in summer afternoons. Since it has entry steps and shallow areas, it was perfect for us and our three young grandkids, when they visited. Everyone loved it.
No review of this property would be complete without a thank-you to the Evolve property manager, Crystal, for her outstanding service and support. She was accommodating to our questions and unique needs with exceptionally quick callbacks and responsiveness.
The actual property owner gave us a follow-up call once we were back home and thanked us for staying. It was nice to have direct contact with the owner.
Galveston Getaway is most definitely a place to stay again!

I am first going to start off by saying I do not complain. I work in the hospitality industry and have for the last 15 years in Operations. My family of 6 selected this property for the size of pool to have peace of mind that the children could have something to do when at the house. It was clear no one came to property day of much less probably not for days to ensure it was ready for a guest check in. All of this would have been avoided. Much to our surprise after - 5 hour drive kids were ready to jump in pool. Nope not gonna happen because this pool was covered in Algea! Called right away to report and was told someone would be there next morning and pool would be ready to swim by 11. What a joke! 4:30 the next day comes around and I am being sent a picture of the pool saying it is ready. This is only after I reach out after 2pm since it still was not swimmable. At 4:30 the pool was still cloudy. Could not see the bottom of the pool, but was told it’s acceptable to swim in absolutely not remember I work in the hospitality industry and we have pools that we have to maintain and upkeep and follow department codes. But because this message at 4:30 was fine it was sent to me saying the pool was ready. This company feels like they should only offer compensation at 30%. I spent a little over $1700 at this location to be told the pool is ok to swim at 4:30 PM on day two when I check out the next day. They felt that refunding me $116 and saying I’m sorry, this is a complete joke not to mention all of the other issues that I talked to them about; roaches in the house ants in the house mosquito guts got smashed on the wall. They didn’t care about any of that but felt $116 refund was sufficient for us not getting to enjoy the pool not one time because check out on Sunday morning was when the pool was finally not cloudy and clear. They are very lucky I am unable to attach a photo! Completely unacceptable and 100% disappointed in this resolution.
Owner's response: "Amanda...Thank you for taking the time to provide such a thorough review. I understand your disappointment with the property. I would have been equally unhappy. Please see the reviews from guests before and after your stay. We work hard to keep everything perfect for our guests...and usually succeed. You were the first guests after Hurricane Beryl. We had closed the property for almost a week to get things cleaned up. We were told it was “ready to go”. Then more rain temporarily upset everything, including the chemical balance of the pool. We did not mean to mislead you about the pool being ready. We would like to offer you two free nights on your next booking at Pirates Poolside Retreat…the pool will be beautiful and ready for the kiddos to enjoy."
