  • Expectations of cleanliness fell short!

    Property overall was great, location from the beach and some good views of the water from the porch. Our biggest issue was that the place was not clean and smelled like cigarettes though the listing states No Smoking. The windows under the porch were so dirty outside looked foggy and there was lots of bird poop on the deck. Tubs in bathrooms were dirty, had to clean especially before bathing our baby. Towels in one of the bathroom's looked used, all extra bedding for the sofa bed were literally tossed into baskets and not folded, smelled used. Multiple plates were put away dirty. And floors, extra dirty had to use our shoes inside at all times. Not to mention their washer had mold and smelled bad, they have a sign on the machines to leave open but looks like the last people to use didn’t follow their rule. We made the best of it by cleaning up a but and washing things we needed to use. It’s disappointing as they have such a high price for cleaning fee. When we arrived we did let the host know about the smell but never responded or acknowledged us. We left it as is to not ruin our mood after all we had our dogs and baby with us to enjoy the beach.

    Additionally, the whole place needs some TLC and attention to detail. Aside from needing a deep clean inside and out, there were a lot of maintenance issues that should be addressed. Ice machine didn’t work, kitchen table (which is an outdoor patio table) was super wobbly, AC took a long time to cool. Overall place is ok to stay in!

    The house was well done, albeit pretty dirty. The kitchen floor was filthy and bathrooms not clean. Didn’t think I would reach Holly for check in info; texting didn’t work nor emailing and I finally called her the morning of, woke her only to have her tell me she was on vacation. Fast forward to our arrival; housekeeping was there with maintenance fixing the broken master bed...didn’t fix the broken recliner nor the broken panel on the refrigerator. Found that out after calling Holly again and her telling me she was on vacation but would find out and get back with me. Nothing as of 10 that evening so I texted and emailed her again. She emailed me the next day telling me the panel was broken and had to be ordered and would be several days; she would be happy to send us a case of water and that she was on vacation...3rd time!! We left Thursday late after the power went out and had no idea when it would be back on, and still had not received our case of water!! I did not have an alternate person to contact with any of these issues. I called Evolve and shared my frustration and he had Jesse, the homeowner call me. After sharing all my concerns with him I mentioned I would appreciate a refund for 1 night as we were leaving due no power and he said there was nothing he could do about that!! I completely agree on that point, but with all the other issues I felt it was the least he could do. Not our first rental on Crystal Beach and all have been lovely and well cared for!!

    Hi there, we’re sorry to hear your stay did not meet your expectations. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
    - Our house is cleaned by professionals after each guest's stay, with photos taken as proof of cleanliness. During our conversation with the guest, no cleanliness issues were mentioned. We value feedback and would have addressed any concerns if notified. It also would have been acceptable to inform our housekeeping staff of any issues upon arrival and they would have been happy to rectify the issues. Our photos confirm the house was cleaned to our standards before check-in. 
    - When the guest contacted the homeowner, we apologized for the challenges they faced in reaching us. It was an unfortunate situation with key people being away on vacation. We genuinely apologize and understand the frustration this caused.
    - Unfortunately, the previous guest did not treat some of the furniture in the house with care. Consequently, we had to send maintenance to address and repair these issues. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the presence of the maintenance crew when you arrived.
    - The water/ice dispenser on the refrigerator door is currently out of order due to supply chain issues, which have made replacement parts unavailable. However, the ice machine inside the freezer is still producing ice, and guests can access water from the kitchen sink. 
    - We are sorry for the power outage during your stay. Unfortunately, on that particular day, the power went out across the entire peninsula, affecting everyone. Although it was beyond our control, we made an effort to address the issue by providing a generous refund for one night to compensate for the inconvenience you experienced.
