The location of this property is perfect for touring the Black Hills. However, as mentioned in other recent comments, the house is old and needs a lot of work, particularly the bathrooms. They are very old and in need of major work - no shower head in the basement shower, kitchen faucet on the master bath sink, torn shower curtain, among other things. The kitchen and living area were fine, but I expected something more up to date for the amount of money we paid. Very disappointed.

Hi Denise, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- We're so glad you enjoyed the location!
- We strive to make our 100-plus-year-old house as comfortable as possible for our guests. Additionally, we use local, professional photographers to make sure that the listing photos correctly reflect the property.
We truly go above and beyond and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!
Our family of nine enjoyed a nice weekend together. It was very convenient to have the fenced in area for the dogs!
The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was nice to have three bathrooms!
After the deck is completed, it will be even a better place to stay!
Very cute place which made a great base for our family as we spent time exploring the black hills. Good sized kitchen for cooking.
Was disappointed that the decks pictured were not usable due to being under construction of some kind.
No air conditioning

Custer Home is a beautiful craftsman style home, built in 1922. It's located 3 blocks from downtown, on a quiet street in a nice neighborhood. Although it's an older home it has seen some renovations over the years, and perhaps could use more, including Central Air. (We were there when temps were in the 90s.) We felt right at home: comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, and close to everything in Custer. There were deer that passed through the yard every night/morning. We hiked the little devil's tower trail, saw Jewel cave, rode the Mickelson trail, climbed to the top of Big Rock Park, and sampled the local cuisine. Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse are a short drive away, as well as Sylvan Lake, and Legion Lake. The nightly laser show at Crazy Horse is not to be missed! All in all, we enjoyed our stay in Custer very much!
