• Another Peaceful Christmas on the Marsh :)

  This is our second year staying at the Marsh Cottage for Christmas and we rebooked because the home is very tastefully decorated, kitchen is well-appointed so I can make Christmas dinner without supplementary items from home, and the views are breathtaking. Even if you're being lazy watching basketball on Christmas Day you can have the screen door wide open and feel like you are one with nature-even hearing the ocean!

  Harbor Island is perfect for us in wintertime because there are little to no people and our dog can run on the beach (only if there are no other people or doggies in sight, of course). We love the proximity to Beaufort and Lady's Island but also love the quiet and restfulness that the season brings you with the added comfort of a gated community, so I never feel uncomfortable walking the dog at night, as an example.

  Theresa is a wonderful Property Manager. We had an issue with the golf cart the first evening we went to use it and I called her first thing the next day and by the afternoon it had been repaired-a true Christmas miracle considering we were so close to the holiday! I appreciated that promptness because riding the golf cart at night to see everyone's lights is our favorite activity to do and the main reason why we rebooked this house instead of others that do not include a golf cart. The owner also personally reached out to make sure we were back on track!

  There are not as many in-home amenities as I remembered, like laundry pods or any soaps, etc. so we had to run out to get those items for our longer stay but next time we will be prepared and bring more items like that.

  Overall, cannot say enough positive things about the cottage, just a great place to recharge that is very tastefully decorated like someone lives there and took the time (not tacky coastal like many other places we have stayed.) We will return!

  The cottage was very nice. Everything you would need and then some was included. We enjoyed our short trip very much. We'll be back.

  First of all, any stay on Harbor Island will automatically be a great location. We were pleased with the communication prior to our trip, notifying us of construction next door and answering questions we had. Having an included golf cart with the rental is a major plus. The layout of the home is nice, and there's plenty of space for guests - both human and pet alike. The home itself appears to be older and needs noticeable updates. The guest bathtub did not drain well and the toilet paper holder was broken. There was also noticeable mold on the shower curtain. The overall cleanliness of the home was not great. An odor of (maybe) cigarette smoke/dirty pets permeated the home and did not go away over time. Lots of pet hair left over from previous guests, as well. The living room TV had noticeable smears all over the screen. There appeared to be boogers smeared on a doorframe between a bedroom and bathroom. When we were stripping the sheets off of the bed in the primary bedroom, there was noticeable dirt and pine needles underneath on the mattress. So no, we were not happy with the apparent lack of cleaning. Our stay overall was fine, but we would not book again.
