We were in Pittsburgh for a family wedding and unfamiliar with the area. The interior of this rental looks great and newly remodeled, and we booked based on that. The exterior and neighborhood were not good. It felt very unsafe and very undesirable - we would not have wanted to walk anywhere in the surrounding area. We also found several centipede-like bugs that came up from the drains when we got there. After the first night, we decided it was not worth the risk to stay there (we had booked for 4 nights, but left after one). We hoped we would get a partial refund to off-set the cost of the hotel we had to book. In the end we were refunded $300 (less than one night's stay). The decor was nice and it looked to be newly remodeled with new beds (although they were very hard). And the host and others were responsive to our needs, however for the cost, I would have expected a safe and much more desirable neighborhood.

Hi Lisa, we want our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we apologize you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
-We apologize that you did not have a great experience! The house is as advertised, and while some guests mention the neighborhood isn't the best, they never felt unsafe. There are only a few houses on that end of the street, many of which are being rehabbed. I also own the house next door and plan to rehab it in the fall. Prior to our investment, some houses were neglected, but there is no criminal activity in the area. Additionally, we have a 24/7 monitored alarm system. Our guests' safety is assured.
-We apologized for the centipedes and explained it might be due to recent humid weather and the house being unoccupied. We offered to spray that evening, however, she decided to leave the next morning.. We've never had a bug issue, but centipedes can occasionally enter any house. I regret that this happened and that she didn't give us the chance to resolve it.
-Everyone has a preference in reference to what type of bed they prefer. I apologize our bed did not meet your comfort standards. However, several guests on VRBO and Airbnb have complimented us on the comfort of our beds
-The guest was given a refund for the inconvenience caused by these issues.
We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!
Solid space for a small group, close to convension center. It was warm in bedrooms upstairs, addition of box fans for use would be great as well as full length mirrors in each room. Thank you for your quick attention to our needs!

This property was great for our stay in Pittsburgh. Very nicely updated interior of the town home and clean. The location was convenient and close to many attractions. The property manager was fantastic, staying in regular contact and very helpful. The only downside is the neighborhood, which is run down.

This property is perfect for 5-6 people. We stayed with 3 couples, 1 single, and two infants (7 people and 2 babies). One couple wasn’t the most comfortable with the small twin bed with the pull out twin underneath, but it was doable. The only other small thing was the beds only had a sheet and no blankets which was odd, and we didn't bring extra blankets.Overall, even though the location is a little sketchy, we all felt very safe as the house has a padlock and alarm that is coded to your number. So you can set the alarm at night which was awesome. I would honestly stay here again if I had a group that size because assuming you are wanting to be near the city or university it’s by far the most central location. Also, one cool thing I had never experienced before was the host was very attentive and was able to help out a lot via text. Usually I feel like if you have questions the hosts can be hard to get ahold of, but I was actually having a great back and forth with the host. Customer service was 100% a 5 out of 5. I would definitely say they are 1st class.
