From the Owner: "We are pleased to know you enjoyed your stay. If there are any suggestions for us to improve your future accommodations, please feel free to express them. Once again, thank you for selecting Home Away from Home Getaway."
The hosts made an exception and allowed us to book despite being 24yo (vs 25yr requirement). Host was responsive to messages. House was found to be clean but had a strong smell of fish(?) in the kitchen. Towels and a few rolls of TP provided but no additional linens such as extra bath towels or kitchen towels. The street is very narrow and hard to parallel park but we were always able to find a spot. ATTN: there is a tenant living in the basement downstairs and you could hear voices, TV, and we even heard shouting and a door slamming at 2am one. There is a door that connects to the basement in the kitchen with just a slide lock to keep them from coming upstairs. The house is in a part of the city that did not feel the safest.

Hi Morgan, we’re glad to hear you found the home clean and appreciated the host’s flexibility and quick communication! We know how much the right setup matters for a comfortable stay, so after reviewing your feedback with the homeowner, we wanted to share a few thoughts:
- The owner didn’t notice a fish odor when cleaning the home after the previous guest’s gathering, but we’ll continue to monitor this during turnovers to ensure the space feels and smells fresh.
- Each guest receives a bath towel and washcloth, and going forward, we’ll be adding hand towels to the setup. Additional towels are typically provided for stays longer than four days, and we’re evaluating what’s reasonable without increasing the cleaning fee.
- We’ve recognized that the walkway could use more lighting and are actively working on improvements to enhance visibility and safety.
- While the owner can’t control the actions of neighbors, the presence of a basement tenant, or the nature of street parking, steps have been taken to support guest comfort. The interior door to the basement is secured with a slide lock to ensure guest privacy and safety, and guests have generally been able to find street parking nearby.
We’re sorry that parts of your experience didn’t meet expectations, and we’ll use your feedback to continue improving for future guests.
As described. Nicely furnished kitchen with a good coffee maker. Living room was a bit dark due to only 1 lamp. Front bedroom was very bright, didn't have blinds like the other bedrooms did, so bring a sleep mask if that's a problem for you. Less than 1/2 hour to center city. Parking was tight, but there was always room at the very end of the street.
From the owner: "It was a pleasure hosting you. We appreciate your feedback and will implement your recommendation as soon as possible"
The property was clean and spacious as described. The major deficiency (which is easy to resolve) was the lack of lighting in the living room. There is a large sofa, a club chair and two other chairs but there is only one table lamp at one end of the sofa with at most a 40 watt bulb and an OPAQUE SHADE which only allows for minimal light downward onto the end table. There is no overhead lighting and no other lamps making it impossible to read in the living in the evening/night.
