Stay was great but complete lack of communication
3/5 The unit was extremely adorable and the bed was amazingly comfortable! However, check-in instructions were provided to use the keyless entry and even gave some troubleshooting info. But, when we arrived the keyless entry was completely dead. May have just needed batteries. They had to be aware of the issue becuase they left the back door unlocked and slightly proped open. We entered through the back door which led to the bathroom. No other train cars were occupied so other than the onsite restaurant ( which was fabulous!) the property seemed as if they could have been out of business! It didn't help that I called the property manager on # provided at 5pm Sunday, but no response! I was concerned with how to lock the door when we left for dinner. We had to leave it open so we could get back in. Upon checkout I text him that we had to leave the door unlocked again, no response. And, I alao emailed him, no response. It's two days later and we have not heard a thing. Very disappointed at the lack of communication and the fact we had to enter an unlocked unit several times during our stay and leave our personal items unsecured. Most other travelers would have left and demanded a refund. We chose to treat it as a camping experience with no locks on a tent, but we didn't pay for a camping experience. It's too bad the property manager is not responsive, this review could have been 5 star if it weren't for his outright rude dissmissiveness. SMH
5/5 What an excellent stay we had at the red ny central car this past weekend for our trip to Benezette to see the elk! We were looking for something unique, close to businesses but also decently close to Elk Country Visitor Center..this was about 35 mins away. This traincar fit all the boxes and left us with such a memorable weekend. We were a little lost at first finding our car but then had no issues. The car was quiet, clean, comfortable and welcoming. We loved the snacks, waters and other little touches throughout. We would definitely recommend to those looking for a unique stay. There is ample parking as well as a restaurant and coffee shop on property. Apparently there is a pizza place as well but it didn't seem to be open during our stay.
