This was a large, comfortable home in a very rural area, not far from Portland. The home was a little tricky to find since the GPS with the address will take you to the farm next door; however, they provided geolocation coordinates to help us find the right place. Itʻs very quiet as itʻs completely surrounded by a nursery, and the landscaping is lovely. The host was accommodating, although a little slow to respond when we had questions. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable.A few things to note: there are no TVs anywhere in the house, so my sons that were looking forward to playing video games together could not play. One of the bedrooms has a locked closet and no place to hang your clothes. Another bedroom had an awkwardly-placed mirror. While there are 5 bedrooms, there are only 5 beds, no bunk beds or twins for kids. Cell phone service in this area is poor, but the house has wifi. There is absolutely nothing around the house but farms, so youʻll need to drive a bit for groceries, restaurants, and other conveniences. Many of the light switches donʻt seem to do anything, and a number of light bulbs were burnt out.On the plus side, there is a dumpster next door for the trash, there are extra folding chairs in the hall closet if you need them, there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out, the kitchen was well stocked, there are air mattresses and extra bedding if you need it, plenty of towels in the bathrooms, and pet blankets if you have pets.

    Manager's Response:

From the Owner: "Thank you for staying at our home. As owners who have always lived in a rural setting, we truly appreciate the peace and quiet that so many of our guests mention. We’ve never thought much about the extra few miles to the grocery store or restaurants, as it’s simply part of the charm of the area.

This summer, the home has been very full with back-to-back guests, and we were recently able to spend a few days there ourselves. During our stay, we replaced a light fixture in one of the closets and discovered a lamp with a plug that wasn’t making proper contact. Other than that, everything was in good order. We also noticed that some lamps had been switched off directly at the fixtures, which may have caused some confusion.

At this point, we’ve decided to take the home off the rental market temporarily in order to complete some upgrades. After 11 wonderful years of sharing our home with vacationers, we are considering whether to continue offering it as a rental or transition it to another purpose. We haven’t made a final decision yet, but we’ll be sure to do so soon."

  • Not a good fit for our group

We booked our stay through VRBO, but was immediately enrolled in another account with the host, Evolve Vacation Rentals. I was advised that I would need to reach out to the host separately from VRBO for assistance. I never received check-in information. I had to call the day of and request them. The driveway and sidewalks were not at all treated for snow and ice. Hauling in luggage and ski gear for 5 people on an inch of ice was incredibly dangerous. The host should have salted and removed the snow. The house appears to be a leftover of someone’s personal belongings as opposed to an actual vacation rental. As if someone’s late grandmother used to live there and they left behind what they thought would be useful for short-term renters. This is not the same as someone who has intentionally made a home intended for vacationers. Needs serious updating. There were bible verses all over the home. While I respect anyone’s freedom of religion, this includes freedom to live without being inundated by someone else’s religion. As a “vacation” home, this space should be neutral for everyone to feel comfortable. The host never once responded to my messages, including when my friend fell through one of the dining room chairs. Multiple chairs at the dinner table were falling apart and were not safe to use. Having to use a keypad to get into the gated driveway was a huge hassle. We would not rent this house nor book a home hosted by Evolve ever again.

  • so much room

    5/5

This house has room for everyone! Family came to town for our wedding and comfortably fit. The location is quiet and feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, but you are still so close to so many amenities

  • Lovely Home

    5/5

My son’s wedding was in Estacada. My other grown kids and their kids were in town and we wanted to be a bit closer to the venue and needed more space. This worked out perfect! We all wished we had had more time to enjoy the beautiful yard.
