Owners were very responsive. This house is really nice for the area. We were in town for a funeral in October, so was not a vacation. Weather was typical central NY weather, raining/overcast/bits of sun.... we did not get to use their outdoor amenities at all. They have a nice yard (nicely maintained too), outdoor seating with cushions, table. Outside the fenced area are the chairs that face the end of Upper Little York Lake. When we were there, there is a little view of the water from the house, much better view obviously down by the water. A lot of ducks liked it there by the edge in front of the house, very peaceful except for i-81 traffic noise which is pretty consistent, but didn't bother us, the highway is across on the other side of a large field. Although they allow dogs, I don't feel like the house smelled like dog. There was plenty of sleeping areas for everyone. Lighting had a few minor issues which the owners said they will fix. Kitchen was very well equipped with a nice fridge and gas stove; had extra supplies which was awesome. As other reviewers did state - it was clean, and I was surprised how I don't think I saw any bugs in the house (well it is October too), but for being on the water, I was pleasantly surprised! I am from this area, and this house is definitely one of the bigger lots/homes on this side of the lake (I always used to refer to Little York Lake more like a pond compared to finger lakes, but it is a moving body of water, just on the smaller side.) The other homes on this side are more like what I call "camps" - small and very close together. But this home is across the street from all those and has WAY more yard then all of them. No direct next door neighbors, all the camps are across the street. Around the corner on Rt 281 is Anderson's Market which we did not get to go in, but they had a pumpkin patch right there too which we picked our own at very reasonably prices. The town of Homer was close by too... we ate at The Exchange Restaurant which was new, and great food. Around the corner from the Exchange is a good bakery (and coffee too). Coffee Mania in Homer/Cortland is a favorite of the kids (our kids are teens/20's). This drive to Cortland was very convenient, but this location also felt close going to Skaneatles, etc. Quick drive to Preble to hop on 81 North, or drive to Cortland via 281 to head 81 South. Thank you to the owners for a great stay despite our reason for coming up there.
We had a marvelous experience. Enjoyed all the toys for our granddaughter to play with. Contact was great on getting us the a/c that we needed, as it is so unusual to be 90 degrees in Homer.
