The house and location were absolutely beautiful! There are a few things i could complain about and the major problem was no central air like the listing claims. They have A/Cs in the bedrooms. But the living room and dining area have no cooling systems. When i asked the property owner about the central air they said that the didn’t have any and then let us know they had a fan. The fan was a small oscillating fan that didn’t help cool it down. We had to bring the A/C from the downstairs bedroom to the dining room throughout the day so that it was cooler in the main areas. Back in the bedroom at bedtime. Also this house claimed to be kid friendly but didn’t have any kids toys and the back porch was open leaving the kids open to run down the hill and stairs to the dock. They did have a little inclosed area that i assume would be for pets to use the bathroom… not really for kids. The bathrooms… upstairs bathroom was disgusting, the shower vent was nasty and moldy. The downstairs bathroom(master) the shower and tub were disgusting and moldy. The jacuzzi tub didn’t work and the jets were also very disgusting and dirty. The bedroom with the king bed smelled of mildew and mold. The air filter is the a/c was absolutely awful. We had to clean it and open the windows to air it out. The house was a little over priced if you ask me since there in fact was no central air. But the view and being on the lake made it somewhat worth it.

Hi Leeyah, we’re so glad you enjoyed the lakefront setting—this property’s location and views really are something special! We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- We’ve since added an A/C unit downstairs to improve airflow in the shared living spaces.
- We've deep-cleaned the bathrooms and other areas mentioned to ensure the home is fresh and guest-ready.
- We’re also updating the listing language to better reflect the layout and will consider adding a child gate for added peace of mind.
Thanks again for your thoughtful feedback. We’re committed to continued improvements and look forward to welcoming future guests to enjoy this charming waterfront 100-year-old cottage.
We were excited to ice fish the famed Chaumont Bay for trophy walleye. Unfortunately the fishing didn't go as planned. The house was great, very clean and comfortable for our group. There was a minor issue with the boiler that the manager solved very quickly. I would definitely stay here again if the fishing was better. If you are headed there to ice fish, you should be aware that access to the water from the cottage is via a set of narrow stairs, and getting a shanty to the back yard is probably not possible. A jet sled fits, but you will struggle with anything wider. The kids did some fishing out in front of the cottage by carrying their equipment down, but for our trips onto the main Chaumont Bay we drove over to the state launch and left from there. Parking at the cottage is tight, with just enough room for 4 vehicles. The snow banks wouldn't allow for on-street parking of any additional vehicles.

Would recommend this home! We had plenty of space for the 9 of use. Great location for ice fishing.
We are folks that like neat clean places to stay. We found that in this property. We live in country setting, enjoyed the free ranging chickens a few place down road.
