  The house is older, with a quirky charm, and was comfortable, clean, and spacious, with a large well-furnished kitchen. However the bathrooms were both on the main floor and two of the bedrooms were up a relatively steep staircase. There is a laundry room, but a sign on the washing machine said it was out of order.The beds were comfortable, but the upstairs bedrooms had uncovered skylights, one of which was directly over the head of the bed. Although the house was clean, the windows, especially in the attached glassed-in porch, were dirty and some were streaked from broken seals. The property is beautiful and quiet, with several comfortable seating areas and a fire pit outside. There is a view of lovely flower and herb gardens right outside the glassed-in porch.We would happily stay there again, and with some attention to a few details, it could be a really outstanding home-away-from-home.

• Summer fun

  We LOVE staying at this home. The property is beautiful with gardens, large fields and wonderful outdoor places to sit. Inside the home has plenty of room for us all. We feel at home and comfortable! Can’t wait to go back.

• Cabin by the lake

  We stay in a lot of vacation rentals across the county and they fall into two type - the place that is built as a short term rental - basically feels like a hotel home. Everything in its place but it is clear it is not a "home" - they other is an actual home. That people have and do live in. they simply share it with you for a short time--like you are house sitting while they are on vacation. This is this home. You can feel the history in this place. It is clean and well lived in and has everything that a home has- which means is everything shinny and new - NO - they place is over 100 years old. But is clean, cared for and Cleary loved. We traveled across the country on a medical emergency for a family member. Host was accommodating the quick rental , very responsive and I can tell from what is on the bookshelves- good people!And there is a restaurant bar within walking distance.-

• Great location for so many activities

  It was great! Like visiting a friend’s house with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We all enjoyed the inside and outside spaces so much. Great kitchen! Beautiful surroundings nestled in among very mature trees. You won’t regret this rental.
