Overall, we had a FANTASTIC trip! We came in for a short ski vacation. Only problem was that the driveway became impossible to access via vehicle once the snow started. Even in a truck with 4wheel drive and winter tires, we couldn’t make it back in and had to park on the main street. Which meant we had to carry all of our bags down the two driveways through a foot of snow upon our departure. Property management team does not salt or clear the driveway and there are no snow shovels available. Only tool was a broom we found in a closet that we used to clear the snow from the porch, stairs and our vehicle. The mountain received 19 inches of snow in 24 hours during our stay. Even with chains on the tires, we wouldn’t have made it up. We watched several snow plows attempt to make the climb up as well but none were successful. I read reviews of this driveway being tricky even during summer months. Knowing what we know now, we would not stay in this location again during the winter months. But we would definitely give it a try during warmer months.
The home owner was very responsive and made sure that we had everything we needed during our stay otherwise.

We really enjoyed our long weekend Labor Day stay in Cloudcroft. The house was a great place to call home during our trip. We would visit again!
Pros:
- Very clean house, modern, all the luxuries of home
- Very homey with cute decor and comfy furniture to lounge.
- Wildlife watching was great from the front drive chairs in the morning. We saw deer, elk, birds, and even had a kitty cat greet us each morning.
- Loved the games and books to use that were in the house.
-Modern appliances and pretty much everything you could need(pots, pans, chopper, utensils, etc) to cook all sorts of meals.
Cons:
- The driveway: getting into the drive way is very difficult. We were in a suburban and had to drive to the top of the hill, turn around, and come down to get into the driveway. When we tried to back in as stated in the directions, we got stuck and it was almost impossible to get traction on the loose gravel.
- This home probably isn’t the best choice for older people or those with difficulty climbing stairs. There are stairs to the front door and to all bedrooms once inside.
Overall it was a great trip and we would recommend this home to others. Just bring a 4-wheel drive vehicle!

WE loved our stay at On the Rocks in Cloudcroft. Brett was very accommodating! The house was very cozy and welcoming from the minute we walked in the door. We will definitely be back to stay again!

Very well appointed, everything was excellent. However, the driveway was very hard to navigate and a bit treacherous. I wouldn't recommend this house if you are not an excellent driver with high confidence backing up into a small space. Perhaps the owners will redesign the driveway, in which case I would happily stay there again. There are many stairs both leading into and within the house, making it difficult for anyone with knee or hip problems and maybe elderly folks.
