First, I will say the owner met us there and went through the property with us and was quite thorough in doing so and answered any questions I had.
It was nice having the water so close and you could walk right in. Also, the kitchen was beautiful, and beds were comfortable.
The issues we did have were things were a little run down - for instance the couch was sagging, had a tear, some of the walls needed repainting. My biggest pet peeve was the master bedroom shower it was extremely hard to get into (height) and the glass door broke and a clear curtain was put in its place and the hooks kept flying off. I also thought it was a little weird that there was no soap or shampoo for the showers. The firepit was very small, no wood or chairs around it and the outdoor furniture was way past its expiration date. I had mixed emotions about this rental but for the very expensive cost I would expect exceptional. If I had paid only a few hundred dollars for the rental it would have been fine.

Hi Maria, thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and highlighting both the positives and areas for improvement. The owner would like to share the following:
-It was a pleasure to meet you and your teenagers during the property walkthrough, and I'm glad I could answer your questions. I'm also happy to hear you enjoyed the beautiful kitchen, comfortable beds, and easy access to the water.
-Regarding the condition of some items, the fire pit is set to the size and location permitted by local safety ordinances. Although there are no chairs placed around it due to space and storage limitations, there are multiple pieces of outdoor furniture available for use. We understand they have weathered over time, but they remain sturdy and usable. We regularly monitor their condition and will replace them as needed to ensure they meet our quality standards.
-We regret any inconvenience caused by the shower curtain in the master bathroom, which was installed to replace glass doors that had broken in the past. We appreciate your understanding of this safety measure.
-We apologize for not providing shampoo or soap during your stay, as many guests prefer to bring their own brands. For those who forget any needed supplies, there is a store within a 5-minute drive from the property.
-We have noted the small tear in the couch and will have it repaired. The scuff marks on the walls will also be addressed during our slower periods when repairs can be scheduled.
It was wonderful to connect with you over our shared hometown experiences, and we truly value your input. Your insights help us continually improve and provide a better experience for all our guests. Thank you again for staying with us, and we hope to welcome you back in the future!
I have been booking through Vrbo for our family vacations for years and I’ve never before experienced the homeowner waiting to walk us around the property. He had concerns about certain lights that needed to be shut off every night, which I understand. The first night we were there one of the lights got turned on that irritated the neighbors, the homeowner proceeded to call me multiple times past 10 PM saying they were threatening to call the police. There’s no cell phone service so I did not get the messages when eventually, I talk to him the next day I apologized and we got the light shut off. The next day he showed up needing to get in the house to take pictures. A few days later, he brought the previous owners to look at the property and walked around for about 45 minutes when you are renting your house as a vacation house and charging as much as they charge, we should be able to have a little privacy in the yard where we’re staying. I don’t feel like the previous homeowner should’ve been allowed to come and hang out on the deck while I’ve rented the house for the week.

Hi Meghan, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the property’s location, but we’re sorry to learn that the situation with the lights and visits affected your stay. After discussing your feedback with the homeowner, they wanted to clarify a few points:
- The driveway light is a sensitive issue due to a neighboring property. The homeowner explained the importance of keeping this light off due to a neighbor’s health concerns and the potential for disturbances. We're sorry for any inconvenience this caused during your stay.
- The homeowner visited the property to take photos for an insurance requirement, and while they did ask for your permission, we understand that this may have disrupted your privacy. They also addressed concerns with the cameras, which needed to be reset after going offline.
- Regarding the previous owner's visit, the homeowner assured us that the visit was confined to areas typically accessed by boat slip renters and should not have interfered with your stay. However, we apologize if this caused any discomfort during your vacation.
We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve the experience for future guests. We hope that despite these issues, you were still able to enjoy your time at the property.
We stayed for a short family vacation. The house was just as pictured. Everything we needed was supplied. The kids loved swimming and fishing right were we stayed!

My familly stayed at the property for a wedding in Meredith and the location and proximity to the wedding venue was perfect. The house is huge, clean, provides every amenity imaginable and the deck and waterfront setting was ideal for a family gathering. We enjoyed having plenty of room to cook and eat together, sit out on the deck and converse and ended each evening around the fire pit with s'mores! This property is perfect for a quiet famiy gathering but I would not recommend it for a large group of rowdy adults. There are a lot of restrictions regarding noise, cars, etc. that are strictly enforced. None of which interfered with our stay whatsoever.Steve the owner, was great and I would definitely stay in his property again!
