• Comfortable and beautiful, with a couple disappointments

  I really wanted my stay here to be "5 stars", but I think it's only 4.

  On the positive side, the place is very comfortable and beautiful. The listing is accurate in that there is a lot of beauty in the area, and the cabin is well-cared for and very comfortable. There are some really lovely views from the property, if not exactly from this cabin (whose views are slightly obscured).

  For the disappointment, I want to start by saying that I LOVE animals, and that everywhere I go I am always hoping for encounters with animals.

  However - something unfortunate I experienced, which may or may not be part of the property owners' control, is that there was a cat on the property - who I was originally thrilled to see - who became kind of a nuisance.

  The cat seemed to be suffering from separation anxiety and was relentless in its need for attention, to the point that it was yowling at my door, and aggressively scratching to get into the studio. The cat, in fact, woke me up several times during the night with this behavior.

  The cat also prevented me from taking advantage of something I was hoping most to do: namely, sitting outside and looking into the mountains and night sky. Every time I went outside, the cat shortly found me and was, again, relentless in its attention-seeking to the point that I had to go back inside.

  So, again, I LOVE animals and engaging with them, but this poor cat was different and its needs just didn't allow for very much peace and quiet.

  -We are truly sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused by our cat. We understand how important a peaceful and quiet stay is, and we regret that the cat's behavior affected your experience. Our cat is a rescue from the humane society and, being an outdoor (barn) cat is very friendly and social. While many of our guests enjoy the company of animals, we understand that this was not the case for you during your stay.
  -We appreciate your understanding and patience. We will take your feedback into consideration as we continue to improve our guests' experience. In the future, we plan on having more animals on the farm to attract animal lovers, but we will also ensure to communicate clearly about the presence of animals for guests who may prefer a different environment.

• Perfect mountain escape

  This was the perfect location to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax and recharge. The mountain setting was ideal, peaceful and serene, yet it was conveniently located to downtown Waynesville and only a short 30 minute drive to downtown Asheville.

  The place was immaculately clean and had everything we needed to settle in and feel perfectly at home. I will definitely have this on my short list whenever I need a retreat and will recommend highly to anyone else.
