We were so happily surprised at how adorable this house. The pond was fun for fishing and the creek was great for adults wanting to relax and kids wanting to play. There was a friendly little neighborhood dog that came to visit every now and then and she just added to the magic of the house.

This house is adorable! It is older but has tons of charm. The kids (ages 5, 10 and 11) loved exploring all the nooks and crannies. They especially loved playing in the creek and fishing at the pond-even though we never caught anything but we were only there 2 nights. They stumbled upon a baby snake tucked under a rock in the creek! The adults made good use of the porch. The sound of the creek and view were wonderful! House was well stocked with essentials like bath towels, paper towels and toilet paper. Ice trays came in handy since their is no ice maker. We even had a fresh bag of ice in the freezer! As mentioned in a few other reviews the neighbors dog was a big hit with everyone. Super friendly and loves the attention. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return.
My husband and I stayed with our 3 and 7yr old and really enjoyed all this home had to offer. The neighbors old dog is a lovely welcoming committee. We thoroughly enjoyed her playing the the creek and sitting by the fire with us. The kids played in the creek, catching crawdads and making mud pies. We fished the pond (caught 2 bass and a sunfish after 2 days of trying) and made good use of the porch with morning coffee, dinners (charcoal grill was great) and reading on the swing. We had cooler weather which was perfect for using the woodstove. Firewood was provided which we appreciated. The home is well stocked with plenty of towels and things like toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap etc. No dishwasher, so paper plates are a must. Oven is small, but works fine. Just plan ahead on meals that will fit! Also note, the fridge is newer than the one pictured so does not have a water/ice machine any longer. Plenty of ice trays in freezer however. Lay out of the house is a little odd, as there's an addition, so no sight lines from kitchen to living room, something to note if you have small kids. Didn't bother us however. Upstairs jacuzzi tub was a big hit with the kids. Entry and exit to the property was smooth, never know what to expect on mountain roads, so I was pleasantly surprised. Relatively close to boone and blowing rock. Overall one of the better homes we've rented. Would stay here again!
I stayed at the cabin with my mom and 4 kids (7,4,4,2). We had a great time. The cabin was one of the cleanest I have ever stayed at. The kids loved the creek and fishing in the pond. My oldest hooked a fish that was so big it broke the line. I was a little worried about the small kitchen as we like to cook but it wasn’t a problem other than there is only 1 rack in the oven. Bring paper plates though. No dishwasher. We ate all our meals at the picnic table on the porch.
The beds were comfortable. Kids loved the jacuzzi tub. Put all 4 in together. They were a little uncertain about the loft area at first but by the end of the week loving it. Great reading nook for my oldest.
The washer/dryer is in a separate small building which I had overlooked in the listing. It was very clean however and in good shape.
Make sure you have the lockbox code saved. Had trouble pulling it up at first because there is such poor reception at the house. It is very spotty. Once we were plugged into the Wi-Fi though it was fine. It’s about a 25 minute drive into Boone which was further than I realized. I forgot about those curvy mountain roads. It’s a pretty drive though.
We loved this house and fishing at the pond. We did not catch anything our whole stay, but everything about it was relaxing. Lots of visits from neighbors' pets to keep us entertained! The reading nook in the small loft above the kitchen was a hit with the kids, too. We will definitely return...
