After sitting 8-hours in a car, my legs were stiff. I walked into the entrance and started to lean to the right. At first I was not sure if it was me or what. I had to laugh, it reminded me of Cosmo, in South Dakota. If you have ever been there, you will know what I mean. The floors lean left/right. You go up hill and downhill in the same room. And doors and walls lean another way. It did not take long to adapt to the quirky floors. The house was clean. Furniture used, but comfy. The yard could use some work. Trees trimmed; flower bed brought under control. Everything we needed was there. Room in the cabinets for our things! The beds were comfy. I slept well here. The neighborhood is dark and very quite. We also greatly enjoyed the firepit and sitting out on the front porch. The location was pretty central to all of the things we wanted to do in the area. It was just a short drive to Newland and restaurants, grocery store, gas station. I give my approval by saying, I would stay here again.

The house was 1.4 miles from the wedding venue. Very convenient! Also good location to go to shop in Blowing Rock.

We planned a last minute trip to the mountains for Thanksgiving weekend to visit a Christmas tree farm and cut our own tree. Although it was last minute, the owner was wonderful to work with and accommodating in every way. We arrived later on Thanksgiving night and even though it was a holiday, she had prepared a warm welcome for us with heaters on, fireplace "blazing" on the television, and coffee pot set to start. We found the house exactly as described and enjoyed all the quaint, homey touches throughout. The location and access to the home were perfect as well. No steep driveways or steps to surmount so great for any who need easier accessibility. And while there is some unevenness to the floors that some other reviews commented on, we all agreed that it is only what you typically find with older homes (which the owner clearly states) and was not troublesome at all. Overall, we were overjoyed with our stay and look forward to possibly returning in the future.

What a quaint and cozy cabin. Perfect location to get to everything.

It was very convenient to Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and we had no trouble getting to and from the linville lot But the lack of Air Conditioning and fans made the evening's humid and miserable. The house is quaint and cute but not for kids or those with vertigo. If you stay in July/August bring your own fan or a way to stay cool. We would not have paid as much as we did had we known there was no air. Advertisement on VRBO stated there was a window unit. Not so. Also no ceiling fans or floor fans.

Response from owner: "Donna, I'm so sorry that you had an issue with the cottage. As the weather gets warmer each year the need for AC has become an issue. We do have a window unit available and I'm sorry that it didn't get installed before your stay. I apologize for my mistake!"
