• Beautiful Home

  The home is beautiful. Its furnishings, pictures, etc help make this home a calm, relaxing place to stay. The beds are comfortable, there is plenty of parking, and it's a short walk to the town of Manteo and Festival Park.

  The owners were very kind in welcoming us to the property and answering our phone calls.

  The host was very helpful and responsive and she left treats for us which was very thoughtful. The property was just as pictured and spotless.

  Absolutely a great house. We travel a lot and this home is in our top 5 vrbo stays. Property managers are great to work with and communicate very well. Great location! Highly recommended this home.

• Beautiful Home, But the Hospitality Left a Sour Taste

  We recently stayed at this home in the Outer Banks, and while the place itself is stunning—beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable, and located in a great area—our experience ended on a disappointing note.

  The hosts were kind enough to accommodate an early check-in the day before, which we appreciated. Upon arrival, the place looked immaculate, and the charm of the décor made us overlook a few things that, in hindsight, shouldn’t have been there. The upstairs toilet had a visible stain and some unflushed debris, and the downstairs shower had what looked like remnants of someone being sick. My husband and I decided to clean it ourselves, as the home had all the necessary cleaning supplies, and again, the overall space was gorgeous.

  The Wi-Fi, unfortunately, was unreliable for the duration of our stay and couldn’t be fixed. We also ran out of body wash and reached out to the hosts—who live next door—but never received a response. A minor issue, but given the proximity, it could’ve been easily resolved and speaks to a lack of attentiveness.

  The real issue came at checkout. We left just 10 minutes past the official time, doing our best to pack up and leave quickly. We also went out of our way to wash all the beach towels before leaving. Still, the host was visibly upset that we hadn’t taken out the trash, left a few condiments in the fridge, and had pushed a couple of chairs toward the coffee table while playing cards and didn’t return them exactly to place. She apparently even took pictures—which is honestly absurd given how respectfully we treated the home and the hefty $175 cleaning fee we paid.

  After spending a few thousand dollars on the stay, we were shocked at how petty the host’s comments were. I expressed that and wished them luck in their hospitality business, though in our opinion, their definition of “hospitality” is sorely lacking.

  To sum it up: the house is gorgeous, and the location is great—you won’t be disappointed with the space itself. But if you're expecting warmth, flexibility, or a host who understands the nature of short-term stays, this may not be the right fit. If you don’t follow every checkout request to the letter, be prepared for an ungracious farewell.

  -It was a pleasure meeting you and your family, and we were glad to offer an early check-in to help you settle in.
  -We ask guests to start the dishwasher and take out the trash before departure—thank you for starting the dishwasher. The trash was left full in multiple bins, which made same-day turnover a bit tricky.
  -The Wi-Fi slowdown was a temporary issue with Spectrum that affected nearby homes as well. We contacted the provider and rebooted the system during your stay.
  -While we try to accommodate guest requests when possible, we couldn’t extend the stay or offer a late check-out due to a back-to-back booking. We appreciate your understanding.
