Well managed property. We read the reviews before the booking and it fulfilled our need for accommodation, which was proximity to downtown.

If you looking for quite and restful, this is not the place.

Property was just like Pictures. It is however located on a hair pin turn which was scary and noisy. Thank goodness for the chiropractor business where you can turn around. It was pet friendly but not pet safe. Would not recommend pets. Sun was great on porch for am but not afternoons.

This property was great for our Girls Getaway to Highlands. Communication was easy and helpful! Getting in and out was a little tricky (being right on the road and a curve) but we just went to the business on the right beyond the house and looped around to drive into the driveway! Worked out great! The cottage was cozy and cute!

  • Quick Couple Stay

    4/5

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. We wanted a location close to town, with a kitchen, back deck, and was clean. These met our requirements. As people have mentioned, it is close to the highway. Best way to park is to pass the house, go up the road, turn through a business, come back, and park along side the house just prior to the front door. We never had an issue getting out. The traffic did not wake us up, as the bedrooms are on the back side of the house. The doors to the bathroom from 2 bedrooms were a bit cumbersome, but not unmanageable. If you are looking for a place that is "away from it all", this isn't the place. We however found it to meet our needs. We cooked breakfast, and cooked a couple of dinners in.

  • Disappointing Stay

    2/5

The reviews mentioned proximity to the highway relative to accessibility and noise but it was VERY noisy and busy to enter/exit. The photos on line look great but when we entered, there was a mouse trap (in full view) in the kitchen and a can of Raid on top of the fridge. A blind in the bedroom was broken along with other items. Several bulbs were burned out on the light fixtures. The outdoor cushions were torn up and the towels smelled moldy. I killed a spider and three large ants in the bathroom. We did not feel comfortable eating at the house so went out for every meal-including coffee. We actually cut our vacation short by one night. The booking and check-in process were very easy. We’re hoping to go back to Highlands in the future but will definitely choose a different property. We have owned rental properties so understand issues but we also understand customer satisfaction.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Beth, thanks for your review! we passed your review on to the homeowner, who would like to share the following:
-"We regret that the guests chose to depart a day early and requested a refund for their last night. We want to clarify a few points.
-Our property is situated in the Nantahala Forest, surrounded by wildlife and insects. We take preventive measures with mouse traps and provide insect repellent for guest comfort. We've not had issues with insects or mice in previous guest feedback.
-The guests noted a few minor issues like a loose BBQ grill handle, toilet dispenser, and a burnt-out light bulb, which are typical wear and tear concerns. These did not impact safety or functionality.
-Our property is well-maintained, and all appliances and systems were in working order during their stay.
-The outdoor patio furniture cushions have developed small tears due to exposure to the elements, but they were still functional. We've since replaced them.
-We offer a spacious living space and deck at a competitive rate compared to upscale hotels in the area.
-We're committed to providing a comfortable and well-maintained space for our guests at a reasonable rate.
Our commitment to all our guests is to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests as evidenced in all other reviews."
