Our family of 8 was very comfortable at the Steele Waters Lodge. It’s an older home with lots of character. It is well off the beaten path- which we enjoyed- but a 25 minute to grocery stores and most conveniences. It’s gorgeous country!

From the owner: "I'm so glad to hear that your family enjoyed the house. You all were perfect guests and are welcome back anytime. It is secluded but just a hop, skip and jump to I-40 which makes it almost even between Asheville and Tennessee"

From the owner: "Candace,
Thank you so much for the kind words. You are right when you say it is beautiful here. A refresher for the soul when you need to get away from the hustle of everyday life."
Beautiful scenery. Peaceful energy. This farmhouse is full of nostalgia and the legacy of family. The host has thought of every touch, blending comfortable amenities with charming antique furniture. There is a flat screen TV with streaming apps, but I found myself drawn to the old Zenith TV, watching old VHS tapes. Sitting on the porch listening to the rain was one of my favorite moments. The reading room is the perfect place to pause, rest, or expand your mind and imagination. The barn quilt painted on the floor under the kitchen table invites you in to sit, eat and catch up on that conversation you keep forgetting to have with loved ones when life is so noisy elsewhere. Relax. Step back in time. This sweet home will fill you with gratitude.
We stayed Friday and Saturday night Watched Andy Griffith on old bubble screen tv awesome the house was so cozy
From the owner: "Terry I enjoyed having y'all stay in my "blanket house". Named it like that because reminds me of being wrapped in a warm blanket, hope you enjoyed and you are welcome back any time."
My goodness we loved our stay here!
We arrived after dark in the evening and the winding roads were very dark and narrow- maybe time your drive so you arrive in daylight, it was a much easier drive leaving after checkout in the morning. The house was all lit up for Christmas and very welcoming. Plenty of heating so we were toasty warm despite the cold temperature outside.
Lots of bed options- a double and single bed in all 3 top story rooms and a double in the downstairs. We travelled with my parents, 3 young children and dog. Everyone was well catered for and the kids and dog loved the garden to roam and explore. We had a fire pit one evening which was so nice.
The kids play room was great- so many games and books. If you are travelling with toddlers/ babies just be aware there was lots of cleaning products around so you might want to take a child safety lock for the low cupboards. Also a bathtub for little kids was handy.
There was provisions in the kitchen- salt, pepper, tea, coffee etc which was handy and all the cooking equipment you’d need. We cooked a full thanksgiving roast in the old school oven- it was delicious!
Sitting on the porch in the rockers wrapped up in a quilt with a hot coffee was actual perfection and will be a treasured memory of mine.
Loved it!

From the owner: "Emily thanks so much for the kind words! The upstairs bedrooms now have queen and twin in two of the rooms and full and twin in the third. Yes, the bathtub was one of my favorite things when I bought the home too. I loved that the children wore on my guest book. Their writing is so sweet! Also, I bought myself the Enid Travers book about the wishing chair. It was charming."
