We enjoyed our stay at this house. It's a large house with a big kitchen (with all the right pots and pans). The view of the river is pleasant, and you can kayak right from the back yard. Because the river is pretty shallow, there isn't much boat traffic and that is very peaceful! We enjoyed having a cocktail hour out on the dock every evening, watching the ospreys and pelicans fly by. We didn't try to fish but there were lots of fish jumping. The water near the dock is shallow and you can wade out a ways before it gets deep.
The location is nice if you want some peace and quiet but want to be able to get into Beaufort easily; it's a short drive. Radio Island (surf-free swimming area) is a quick drive too. We hope to come back next year!
One caveat: This house really is a fifties house--the appliances and furniture are mostly old (the fridge and washer/dryer are new). Everything works and things are in good shape; I got a nice feeling of nostalgia from it. But this might not be everyone's cup of tea.

This place was in a great location, we loved it, and will likely be back next year. Had my GF and 2 of our adult children with us. The rabbits and squirrels (one crazy squirrel did dances and hops.... I mean like olypmic quality) were great. The dock was great.
Some quirks... The back door, which is the only door we used, is badly warped and a real PITA to get to close and open. The bathrooms are NOT friendly to tall people (my son and I are both 6'6")...One shower had a entrance we couldn't use, the other had a shower head that was perfect for keeping belly buttons clean The king size bed was a bit short, normally only my toes hang off the end, on this one, my ankles and more were dangling, even with my head at the top. BUT... These were minor annoyances, the property was great.

We had a great time. We went to shackelford banks and caught fish of the dock at the rental property. To small to keep. But the kids had fun
