  • Beautiful weekend

    5/5

This property is the perfect weekend getaway. Off the beaten path so the peace and quiet were just what was needed for a recharge, yet close enough to Brevard for a quick run to town. Property manager was extremely accommodating. House is quaint and rustic.

  • Ended up loving it!

    5/5

Overall we enjoyed this cabin but First night had to snuggle with a space heater was super cold. The main gas stove in living room wouldn't turn on. The heaters in bedroom on the baseboard would not turn on. Called and told the guy and he said to late for someone to come see about it that it would be tomorrow. I was so angry and cold all night. It was me and my sister and 2 teen boys. Next day my sister looked at panel box and baseboard heaters breaker was off. So she fixed that problem. Once they came and got the gas stove heater working in LR the cabin warmed up quickly. The next 2 days the cabin was amazing. Warm and relaxing. We would def stay there again because we liked the isolation of the cabin. I would ask the owner to be more aggressive during winter months that your renters aren't freezing at all during their stay. Not one night you paid for should you have to be cold. The cabin could of been a little more cleaner but nothing I wouldn't stay in again. Overall I would def stay here again as long as I didn't have to be cold.

    Things to know to renters:

No central heat -stove in LR heats very well though.

Is isolated if you want that.

Parking is at bottom of hill so you will have to walk up steep hill if you cant walk well.

  • Balsam Grove

    3/5

My husband, our two dogs, and myself stayed in Balsam Grove for a long weekend. It was a simple and beautiful cabin. The property manager was very responsive with our needs/issues. It was mostly clean but needed a good dusting, as there were dust filled cob webs throughout. The kitchen had the basic bare minimum, ie missing baking sheets, cooking utensils (had spatula and tongs), trash bags (house keeper brought this and sponges). There was also a planned power outage for maintenance we did not find out about until half away to our arrivial (we live 6hr from the location) we were told there would be candels and lanterns for the night this would occur, instead we were provided with tealight candles and camping heating/cooking candle things. Thankfully, the power outage was only from 9p-6a, so we just went to bed early for our trip back home the next day. The cabin is quite litterally in the middle of nowhere (we loved this) but was a trek up winding mountian road to get to town, approximately 20 minutes. So I'd recomend pack enough food for your stay as it was quite a trip to town. There also is no parking directly at the house as you have to walk up an uneven so that can be ticky with a lot of loading/unloading and would really not be easy if there were snow. This is skimmed over in the description but feel as though it should be elaborated a bit more. Otherwise, we had a good relaxing weekend away.

    Manager's Response:

    From the owner:
"Hi Olivia, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad to hear that you appreciated the cabin's peaceful, remote location and had a relaxing weekend overall.
While we do our best to provide clear communication before arrival, including details about the planned power outage, we apologize for any inconvenience this caused during your stay.
We'll keep your other suggestions in consideration to ensure all future guests have nothing short of excellent stays.
Thank you again for your feedback."

  • Great location- house needs work

    3/5

We really liked some things about the property, it had a great porch and was located close to both Gorges State Park and DuPont

    On the negative side

The inside was dirty, there was trash all in the driveway and outside, the AC didn’t cool the bedroom, the bathroom floor was in bad shape, and the shower was not good.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Darren, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad you enjoyed the porch and the convenient location near Gorges State Park and DuPont. However, we’re sorry to hear that some aspects of your stay didn't meet expectations. After discussing your feedback with the homeowner, they wanted to address the following:

-The trash in the driveway was a result of a wild animal getting into the garbage just before your arrival. While it was cleaned up the next day, we apologize for the inconvenience this caused.
-The cabin is thoroughly cleaned and dusted after each guest's stay, but as a wooden cabin located in a temperate rainforest, it can be challenging to keep every speck of dust out. We appreciate your understanding of this unique environment.
-The A/C is designed to cool the cabin, but we’re sorry it didn’t sufficiently cool the bedroom during your stay.
-Regarding the bathroom floor and shower, the floor is covered with natural stone, which may differ from traditional surfaces. The shower was refurbished about a year ago, there have been no reports of issues with the heat or water pressure.

Thank you for sharing your review. Your feedback assists us in understanding our guests' perspectives and improving wherever possible.

  • Relaxing stay

    5/5

The property was quite nice and allowed for a relaxing stay. The hot tub was a nice way to a day or two of hiking in the nearby mountains.
