Wonderful Asheville Girls Getaway
5/5 The Artist’s Mountain Retreat was a wonderful, cozy home away from home. Clean and comfy, close to downtown Asheville! The kitchen was well equipped and we ate in several times. A wonderful time was had by all.

Not dog friendly and snake greeted us.
3/5 No place to walk your dogs, except down a step driveway and out onto the road. We also were great by a snake on the pathway to the rental when we came back out from initial walk thru. We did not stay. We would have had to risk the snake again slipping on the step driveway or being run off the road walking the dogs. Street had no lighting to see or be seen.

Owner's response: "Nancy, Over the past five or six years of offering my property to vacation renters I nor any of my guests have ever experienced seeing any such snakes. Note that we do reside here in the mountains of North Carolina where we coexist with nature and local wildlife, and from your description to me it was a harmless black snake. You were terrified and I sincerely respect your phobia as being very real! This was a most unfortunate experience!
Noting further, as we do reside in the mountains, driveways are not as level as would be found in the city where you come from. The road where we are located is a quiet residential/rural road with very little traffic, mostly from local residents. It is not a thoroughfare by any means! Our road turns gravel in half a mile and connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are no businesses on this road.
I would estimate a third of all our guests over the years have brought their dogs and have never had nor reported any negative incidents. Agreed that our rural road has few streetlights but wisdom suggests having a flashlight or such when walking anywhere in the dark.
The pathway from our parking area to the residence entrance is lighted after dark for safety.
You may have had difficulty walking three dogs by yourselves and would have found it challenging regardless of our property. One of the three dogs I saw was a rather large German Shepherd-sized dog.
Finally, and understandably, because of your phobia about the snake you left to find other accommodations and did accept my reasonable offer of a partial refund. I do wish you well!

Beautiful close to downtown
5/5 The owners are friendly, informative and kind. Lovely space to stay in. Sat on the porch in the evening. Drove up the road to beautiful Mountain View’s. Love Weaversville!
