Great house newly renovated. Perfect location in a quiet neighborhood. Neighbors were super nice. We would stay here again. Parking was great.

  • Great spot except for in summer heat

    3/5

This house is a 5 star rental in almost every sense except one (see below).

    The good stuff:

    -Beautiful, tastesfully decorated, clean

    -Well-stocked

-Great location in easy walking distance to nature and main street

    -Really nice mattresses and bedding

    The not so good:

I do not recommend renting this spot in hot/summer months. There is one AC unit that is only powerful enough to cool the living room. Everywhere else (bedrooms, kitchen) were pretty unbearable, even with fans running all day. The windows of the house are painted shut, so no way to bring in a breeze when the temp lowers at night. The upstairs/attic bedroom is unbearable at every time of day, and we ended up bringing mattresses to the basement to sleep (I ended up throwing out my back doing this).

I would absolutely rent this house again if I was sure it wasn't going to be hot on my visit, but be warned if the temps are above 85 degrees.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Claire, we’re so glad you enjoyed the home, but we’re sorry other aspects fell short of expectations. After sending your feedback to the owner, they’d like to share the following:

    - The home is over 70 years old and does not have central A/C, which is mentioned in the listing
    - The single A/C unit is intended to cool the main living area, with fans provided for additional comfort
    - The upstairs bedroom is a bonus space, and the home includes two bedrooms on the main floor
    - We suggested the basement as an alternative cooler space, which is typically 10+ degrees cooler than the rest of the house

Thank you for your insight, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again soon!

  • nice place but some things to know

    4/5

This place is in a quiet location just a few minutes walk to town. The beds are new and comfortable. The kitchen was recently remodeled with new appliances. We used the fridge but not the stove or dishwasher. Everything was very clean and well-maintained.

The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is for one main reason -- this is advertised as a two-bedroom two-bath but it is not made clear that one of the bathrooms is up a flight of stairs in the dormer space with an angled ceiling. The listing mentions four steps to get into the house but nothing about the second bathroom being upstairs. Not good. This might be fine for a family with children who are small enough to not bump their heads but not really for adults. It is clear this is a new rental and there is work going on. The downstairs (where the washer/dryer are located) is under construction and there will be another full bath in the future. Again, stairs.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay (3 adults) but the bathroom situation was not ideal.
