I generally don't do reviews unless it's that bad. I have been on several trips and always try to look past the little things. So when I read a review before this stay warning me not to book I called the owner and allowed her to talk me into booking. I asked her about the bed bugs and shared fishing dock. I told her bed bugs and a shared dock were both deal breakers because the whole reason for my vacation was to have some peace and quiet while I fished and swam with my family. She "Gene" told me the bed bugs were gone, this part was true, there were no bed bugs and that the fishing dock was not a shared dock and acted like that was a crazy statement from a disgruntled renter. That was a lie. Turned out the dock/s were shared. There were two poorly cared for docks and since the swimming dock was the only one with ladder my kids could only swim when the party of teens weren't taking it all up. That was one day for about an hour. The fishing dock/ house was full of other peoples things extremely hot and full of spiders it only turned out alright because the other guests were very nice helped clean up and we got along great. Now for the cabin. Ugh, it was a one room efficiency with a moldy smell and very leaky bathroom sink the internet was hit or miss (mostly miss) and we couldn't watch TV because the satellite kept going out, besides you could only see it from the couch at an angle. The screen door was broken and the door had a huge gap in it for bugs and whatever else wanted to come in. Then hen I called Gene about all this she told me she "miss understood" what I meant by shared dock and to just put a towel down for the leak! I told her there is a towel under the leak and that it really needs to be fixed. She said , "well maybe i could get someone to fix it", it never got fixed. Oh and thanks to the nice couple who showed us there 3 bedroom cabin we also realized we payed more per night (206.00/ night plus LOL cleaning fees) then they did (120.00/ night plus the same amont in fees). Gene said she would discount me for the leak never said how much but I am still waiting for that too. All in all this place is unacceptable! And I highly recommend you keep looking before you become another disgruntled renter.
Hi Travis, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this cozy cottage wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- We encourage guests to thoroughly review the listing before booking, to ensure they find the right vacation home for their needs. We want all of our guests to find the perfect place to stay, so we take the accuracy of our listings seriously.
- The listing does state that due to the remote location of the cabin, cellular and WiFi connectivity may be limited and that the property shares access to the boat docks, boat slip, and outdoor fire pit, but we are sorry if this caught you off guard.
- We use professional photographers so we can be sure that our images accurately reflect our cozy cabin and guests can decide before booking if the layout meets their expectations. We are confident that the features you see on the listing are accurately advertised.
Thanks for letting us know about your experience. We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have a relaxing stay!
Do to a medical problem with cleaning staff cabin was not clean when we got there. We were hungry and didn’t want to wait around for it to be cleaned. We ended up not staying because of this situation.

The cabin was cute and reasonably comfortable. However, the picture of the deck is not exactly accurate. Also, the cabin itself does not have water access. That may have been a misunderstanding on my part, but I thought we would be able to walk right out to the water. There were also ants in the kitchen area. A lot of ants. Maybe there had been some rain in the few days before we arrived. The neighbors were a wonderful couple who were very friendly. It was an enjoyable time.
We had a fantastic time. Everything we excepted was there and then some. Friendly people. Great location. We will definitely be back.
