Hop aboard a boat and venture to this secluded 3-bedroom, 1-bath vacation rental cabin on Stop Island near International Falls! With enough space to comfortably sleep guests, this rustic yet charming unit boasts a furnished deck with a grill and dining area, a wood-burning fireplace, boat dock, and a sand beach ideal for campfires or swimming. Explore Stop Island by canoe, fish for Bass and Perch off the dock, and finish the day by watching the Northern Lights from the comfort of the front deck!
The cabin is only accessible by boat, and the nearby Seegert's Marine is the go-to option. From there, you have a short 15-minute ride to reach this Stop Island property. This cabin is the perfect outdoor enthusiasts retreat with easy access to top-notch fishing, bald eagle watching, and island exploration. Be sure to coordinate with the homeowner to borrow the canoe and do some island hopping!
Fishing on Rainy Lake is a favorite activity, and this cabin has unbeatable access to the 3-12 foot areas that most fish reside in spawning seasons. Rainy Lake is known for its hundreds of islands, bays, and reefs which are perfect for casting a line! Indigenous fish in these waters include Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Northern Pike, Muskies, Sturgeon, and more.
The small baby beach by the house is perfect for family time or for merely beating the heat. Other fun ways to spend your time at the cabin include swimming laps, watching the Northern Lights over Canada, or finding a climbing spot on the island.
Make a beach campfire at the small adjacent island after sunset and enjoy stargazing with your loved ones. Blueberry picking is another favorite pastime in this area when they are in season! No matter what you decide to do, know that you'll be enjoying the great outdoors the entire time you're at this rustic retreat!
This place is perfect if you wanna clear your mind for some time. It does not have WI-Fi, TV, AC, dishwasher was not available at our time there, but that is a beauty of it. It is a little outdated but that was not a problem either. Views are amazing and the nature around is astonishing. It has zillion of mosquitos but you would used to it and hundreds of dragonflies do their job. Be sure you will kill them all in your bedrooms before sleep. Fishing is great for bass and northern pikes. Water was warm enough (around 70-75F) for us to swim every day. Be careful diving from the dock, there is a rock right next to it at 4 feet.
This is a cozy cabin, rustic for sure, but amazing deck over the water and peace and quiet all around. Great owner to deal with. Kids had a great time as well.

Other than some plumbing issues it was fantastic. The house is tight for 4 adults and 2 kids, but we made it work and had an enjoyable stay. The lake views are stunning. And the outdoor spaces are nice.

Views were better even than pictures and the location just perfect to explore islands nearby with our kayak and stand-up paddle board. I loved to sit on the deck in the morning for coffee and the sunrise. The baby island was great for campfires and swinging in our camp hammock for a slightly different view. Our kids enjoyed mini explorations of the island behind the house for great elevated views of the lake. We watched deer cross from our island to the other on a shallow sandbar. It was very tranquil. There was easy access for our boat and it is 10 minutes or less from the marina to the house. The fishing wasn't great but we caught a northern for supper from the dock in addition to other outings.
My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the cabin is a bit dated and some minor problems developed with plumbing during our stay. The homeowners were very accessible and anxious to help in anyways that they could. I expect that they have already addressed the issues we had. Overall, the cabin is very cozy and really did have everything we needed. I would most definitely return as our experience was fantastic. The relaxing rhythms of nature are all around and complete rest and contentment was found here.
