The house itself was okay, although the quality of the house, property, furniture, appliances, and amenities was not very high. Everything was definitely the cheapest it could be. The beds, pillows, and bedding were not very comfortable. It wasn't the worst, for sure, but not super high quality either. Multiple remotes needed new batteries, and the hot tub jets only partially worked. The electric candles in the basement never worked at all. There was no kettle for hot water in the kitchen.
Upon arrival at the property, we found that the gas stove was not functioning. It took a few days to get it working again, although the owner was communicative and proactive. It was cold and rainy when we arrived, and when the fireplace was finally fixed it got really hot and we no longer needed it. The fireplace set up is really strange, and it seems way too easy for a guest to kill the pilot light. I would strongly strongly suggest a new kind of remote system.
The most significant difference between 4 and 5 stars is that I wish the house had more privacy fencing and vegetation around. The road that runs along the house is like a highway (in noise level anyway), and it is not very relaxing to be outside. At least a fence that is between the hot tub/patio area and the road that cuts off sight and sound somewhat would improve the property exponentially. I also think that a thicker area of trees and large shrubs between the rental house and the neighbor's house would be helpful (probably for the neighbor as well!).
The house's proximity to Duluth is definitely its best feature, and I would consider this house again in the future for that reason. Driving down to Lincoln Park with all its great restaurants and breweries was so easy and convenient. The hotels in downtown Duluth are overpriced and of low quality, so this house was a nice find for that reason.
Bottom line: I would still recommend this house to anyone, but think that more attention to quality and guest experience would improve the property remarkably. Because of this, I do think the house is a bit overpriced.
My husband and I stayed here and loved how relaxing and quiet it was. Views were great and there were plenty of options for seating outside. We loved the hot tub! Very important to know - the couches are super comfortable and the TV downstairs was huge! The fireplace was so comfortable when the weather was colder than we anticipated. Water pressure in the upstairs shower was so strong, we loved that. The bed we slept in was very comfortable and had nice pillows. Kitchen had plenty of dishes, pots/pans, anything we needed for a few meals at the house. Only reason the cleanliness got 4/5 stars was some excess trash that looked like it was leftover from past guests in the garage - it was smelly and a bit of a hassle. The house itself was immaculate. Hosts were available right away when we needed and seemed really kind. We felt right at home!

We had a great stay at this house. There was plenty of space for our group and lots of room to spread out. The hot tub was great to be able to enjoy. The location was super convenient to everything in Duluth with the bonus of feeling like we were not near town with so many tree and wildlife all around. Plenty of room for parking. Close to the Superior Hiking Trail. No issue with anything in the house or with amenities. The tank on the grill was empty when we wanted to use it but the host came the next day and got it changed out. Was quick and easy and appreciated for them to do that. Will be looking up this house again for future trips to Duluth!
We loved the hot tub! Very roomy and spacious for us old friends to play games and gather around.
