Step back in time during your stay at 'The Bailey House,' a 6-bedroom, 2-bathroom vacation rental home in Backus. Built in 1902, this historic home is filled with antiques and is the ideal lake retreat for your next getaway to Minnesota. With plenty of room for family and friends, spend your days in the great outdoors at nearby Pine Mountain Lake and nights enjoying the peace and quiet of this spacious and wooded property. For dinner, whip up a meal in the kitchen or try a local restaurant!
'The Bailey House' is ideally located steps from the crystal clear waters of Pine Mountain Lake. While the home has a secluded feel, it's near great options for dining like Willard Saloon and Eatery, and the Corner Store and Restaurant.
You certainly won't have to travel far for days of fun during your stay in Backus! Just 1 block away you'll find a public boat launch and Rocky Dock park with a playground, picnic area, and swimming beach.
Rent a boat and spend the day on the lake fishing for walleye, bass, northern pike, and panfish on the 1,612-acre lake. The kids in your group will like swimming in the water while you grill hamburgers at the picnic area!
The Paul Bunyan Trail and Rest stop is a half block from the house and offers 100 miles of paved hiking, biking, rollerblading, and snowmobile trails.
We loved the old house and all the period furnishings. Mostly we loved that it could fit all of us in one place. A short walk to the nice little beach was great. A short drive to Walker or to Brainerd to explore. We had a wonderful time being together, sitting around a campfire, grilling, and playing in the yard.

Beautiful house in Backus right on one of the best fishing lakes in Minnesota! Really charming house, lots of space, and eclectic decoration. Definitely recommend a stay here! House could use some better weather proofing but all in all the property is in amazing shape for it's age. Know that you are staying at an older/historic home, if you are prepared for this, you will absolutely love staying here!
Property owner is very kind and knowledgeable about the area, definitely recommend sitting down for a chat with Doug if you both have the time!
I cannot wait for my next stay at the Bailey House!
Great place

The Bailey house was a beautiful spot walking distance from the lake park and the resort our family was staying at. Charming, historic and spacious were a few comments that our group provided. The place could use a deep cleaning and the kitchen could be more organized and equipped. We had a larger gathering for cake one evening and a fun camp fire outside. All in all a good spot to accommodate many from our group.
