  The cottage was unique and full of family history, perfect location and fabulous autumn weather! The place can use a good cleaning, lots of cob webs, spiders, mice traps And dust, dust, dust!

  The cottage was professionally cleaned before your stay, but with some time between guest visits, a refresher would have helped address dust and cobwebs that can accumulate in a rural setting.

  We had the best time at the Shingle Shack! The house was spacious and comfortable. It is has a very homey feel to it. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. There is a great little

  market within a few minutes drive that we v bought all of our groceries at. The kayaks were fun to take out into the lake. The beach fire pit is going to be hard to top for all future vacation rentals. We did not use the bunkhouse during our stay. The lake is absolutely beautiful.Perfect for swimming, boating, etc. Highly recommend!

• FLEA bites, but still a great vacation

  There are two separate living quarters. A "shed" that has two bunks beds and a queen bad and a main house. The main house was immaculate- very nice. BUT if you're going to use the shed, everyone that slept in there was covered in flea bites by the time we left. AND unfortunately, they brought them home in their suitcase, so we're dealing with them in our house as well now.

  Torch Lake is absolutely amazing and the beach access and the fire pit were great! We made a lot of great memories.

  Owner's response: "Amy, The homeowners were surprised to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following:
  
  Amy, we are truly sorry to hear that you did not have a good stay at our property. We're not sure what you picked up, but they were not fleas and they did not come from our house.
  
  We were at the home just after your visit and we inspected the home from top to bottom and found no evidence of any fleas. We are a pet-free home and although someone could sneak a pet in we have verified with the neighbors that none have been seen around our property.
  
  My daughter and family including a 20-month-old child stayed in that unit and they did not have any bites to speak of. They did however get a case of swimmer's itch which can resemble flea bites from what I have researched. But they have had swimmers itch before and that is certainly what it was.
  
  We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests. We will continue to deliver the 5-star experiences we are known for."

  We went for the lake

  The weather was great

  The cabin was perfect, love the little beach

  and the fire pit area

  The entire experience was amazing and everything that I hoped for

  I will definitely revisit
