Cute cabin on Lake Michigan with a 5 minute drive to the dunes! My husband & I stayed here for 4 nights & were very pleased with everything!

  • Beach cottage in the dunes

    3/5

Location was right on the lake, and across the lane from the dunes, but the cottage was a bit tired and not as up market as the photos depicted.

Owner's Response: "Hi David, thanks so much for your review and for staying with us. The location is very nice- right on the water and across from the dunes. This is an older, cozy three-bedroom cottage with an updated kitchen, open concept floor plan, and a direct view of the lake. We're always working to improve our guests' experience and hope you'll consider coming back next year to see what added improvements we've made!"

  • Cozy Cottage

    4/5

We had a lovely stay! The cottage was incredibly clean and the views were just breathtaking. We especially loved the short walk to the large (mostly vacant) beach. The kids didn't want to leave! Only one small note of improvement, the shower is tiny so a shower wand would be handy.

  • Lake Michigan VIEW

    5/5

The cottage was cute and cozy. I have a thing for screened porches, and they had one with water view. The window view was wonderfully close to the water. My cousin and I sat in their comfy chairs with an ottoman for each of us. It was hard to get out of the chairs because the waves were wonderful and the sunsets were magnificent. Our visit was quiet and relaxing. The cottage appears to be an older one that has been updated with cabinets, furniture, etc. I thoroughly enoyed my stay.

  • Beautiful location overpriced

    3/5

The place was decent and the pictures make it look worth the price. The cleaning fee was very high and was ended up cleaning up a number of things right when we arrived, and its a lot smaller than it looks. Cleaning few needed to be about $75. The shower in the bathroom is a hack job and spews water through the gap in the bottom of the door. The bedrooms are ok but the closet doors are just more of the incompleteness. Totally a work in progress being funded by overpriced rental cost and inflated cleaning fees. We were fooled into thinking it was a spectacular cottage but it was really only just ok.The good stuff: The location is amazing and the sunset over the water combined with the proximity to the dunes and national beach made it worth staying. Been to many that were significantly better at the same price though.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Royce, thank you for your review. We wanted to pass along the following feedback from the homeowners: "Thank you for your review and for noting the amazing location of this house on the lake and dunes. We’re sorry the house didn’t meet your expectations. We continually strive to improve the Juniper House and offer our guests a great rental experience on the lake, and take your comments very seriously. In the terms of price, we understand that the rate is set by Evolve based on an analysis of the rental market in the surrounding area. We think the rent is reasonable, especially given the beautiful location of the house - and the sunsets. You didn’t specifically note the things that you thought needed cleaning when you arrived, but you may recall that before your stay we offered via text that you should feel free to reach out to the cleaning service directly for any issues. They’re very responsive and would have been glad to help. Also, as you may have noted the listing states that the house is 750 square feet and three bedrooms, which makes the bifold bedroom doors shown in the pictures especially handy. With respect to the water under the shower door, thank you for raising that issue, which we will certainly look into further. Again, thank you for your review and for staying with us, and hope that you’ll consider staying with us again."
