This house was worth the 2025 price but not the 2026 increase. It was not clean, had mice, and we had to mow the back yard ourselves when we got there.

From the Owner: "We’re sorry to hear the property did not meet your expectations. We take cleanliness seriously and have a thorough service performed after every guest’s stay. If anything is ever out of place, we encourage guests to notify us right away so our team can address the issue promptly.
The home is located in a wooded area, which means you may occasionally see local wildlife, including mice. We keep preventative traps around the property and have not had any reported issues this year. Our cleaning crew checks these regularly to ensure everything is in order.
For lawn care, regular mowing is scheduled, but if your stay happens to fall between services, we do have an electric mower available in the garage for guest use.
Thank you for your feedback, it helps us continue to improve the experience for future guests."
My family and I stayed here for 4 days and overall we all had a great time! There are a few things I do want to point out in hopes the owner will make some updates going forward. The property was nice overall, including the inside. However, the exterior needs some serious TLC. The exterior decks are really worn out, tree debris was everywhere we had to sweep a lot up. The outdoor table and seats were all dirty and the grass area looked like it hasn’t been cut in years. The screened in deck area off the Master King Bedroom was all dirty and was more of a storage area that you couldn’t use. Would have been nice to use this space. One of the bedrooms upstairs did have acorn shells left in the sheets but the bed was made professionally. Weird. It says that the exterior cameras aren’t pointing in any of the social areas but we noticed one camera on the deck pointing at the outdoor table and hot tub area. The hot tub lid when open might cover some of the camera view but still was not expecting one to be pointing in that direction. Hot tub is pretty old and we didn’t use it much because of this. The outdoor fire pit area could be nicer as well. There were two bikes in the garage that we were hoping to use but both tires were flat and useless. One another thing to mentioned on the inside, the basement does have a separate bedroom which we weren’t expecting and was a nice feature. It is a beautiful house and area just wish the owner took better care of the exterior.

We have stayed at this property consistently since 2019. First the good things: the location is wonderful. Its just a short walk to Lake Michigan or you can kayak down the stream to a public beach. The home is spacious and has room for plenty of guests. Sadly, it has been falling into disrepair. Every year we arrive to find the same things broken and new things falling apart. This year, the grass was knee-high and looked like it hadn't been mowed all season. There was poison ivy in many places, but especially thick on the edges of the property. Last year, our adults gave up using the hot tub because it is consistently green and slimy. This year was no exception, except now the hot tub cover is completely broken and falling apart. There are two refrigerators at this property, which is crucial for larger groups like ours. However, only one of them worked this year. When we called to ask about getting it repaired, the person who answered the property manager number told us she was “just the housekeeper.” It seems like she may have requested the repair, but the property owner doesn't care to keep the place up. During a particularly heavy rain, water came pouring in through the ceiling onto one of the beds. The list could go on, but you get the point. It's sad because it could be such a great property. We have many wonderful memories here, but we will be looking elsewhere next year.

Owner's response: "Caitlin, We want to thank you for your continued support over the years we were sorry to hear this trip was not satisfactory. We were happy that you have enjoyed our home and the location is a good fit for you. We do respond to repair requests in a timely manner as they get reported to us. We were at the property recently and spent most of the week there, we'd like to clarify some of your points.
- Regarding the grass, it is at a normal level, we are in a forest setting with lots of pine trees and needles on the ground so the amount of grass is quite limited. Because of the location, we do have poison ivy on the property.
- The hot tub cover is on backorder, we ordered it about 30 days ago. The manufacturer advised it would take 30-45 days for delivery. The temporary cover was placed by the hot tub maintenance company last week and the one is arriving shortly. The hot tub is cleaned and serviced every week, by a local service company. We provide the number to renters in the welcome book in case there are any issues. Sometimes renters remove the floater with bromide capsules and it causes the water to go green. The floater must stay in the hot tub at all times.
- Regarding the refrigerator, we are not required to provide a second refrigerator, it's done as goodwill. It worked perfectly fine for me and my family when we arrived after you left. I don't know what their problem was perhaps too much food to the point the doors would not close. Maybe it needed a little defrost action to start operating normally. It was working OK before and after your booking.
- The roof leak was reported, this was the first we've heard about this. No one else had any issues before. It appears that the sealant around the bathroom exhaust pipe was a little cracked. I called the roofing company and it was fixed this week at their first available appointment. The roofers came out right away to assess the situation but did not do the repairs while the tenants were there, because there was no more rain.
We look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests. We will continue to strive for the 5-star experiences we know we can deliver."
