We had a group of 10, all in our late 30s and early 40s, with a mix of couples and singles. As the person responsible for finding the house, I can confidently say that what you see is what you get—if not better. Many of us thought the house looked even nicer in person than in the photos. The compliments were endless, and there were no complaints from anyone in our group. We all felt we got excellent value for what we paid.
This was our first time staying in the area, and we couldn't have asked for a better location. It’s clear that the owner is attentive and makes an effort to address any issues mentioned in previous reviews. One tip: bring water shoes/sandals, as there are about 20 feet of rocks before you get to the sand.
Honestly, anyone giving this place less than 4 stars must be certifiably insane. We had a fantastic time and would definitely stay here again!
From the owner: "Jonathan, your review just about brought us to tears. We do work so hard with the guest in mind to offer the best stay we can and not everyone appreciates what is offered. The fact that all of you had an amazing wonderful time and appreciated what the house and lake offer is the most beautiful compliment. Thank you for the suggestions too. We hope you do visit us again. Cheers."
We just loved this house! Lots of space right by the lake. What a gorgeous property and an amazing place to be together.

From the owner: "We love when our guests love the house and the beautiful lake. It is such a special place to us and we love to share it with those who appreciate it. We hope you took home many good memories. Thank you for being our guest."
This home lives up to is VRBO billing. Great place. You will love it. Lots of room; amazing deck for sunset views; close to many interesting places. Clean. Well equipped kitchen. We were very happy with our week there.

From the Owner: "It is so delightful to know that you loved this home as much as we do. To have a front-seat view from the deck as the sunsets can not be beat! You really need to see it to believe it. Thank you for being our guest Markley. Please come and visit us again soon."
We were a family group ranging in age from 10 to 74, and everyone had a great time. The house was wonderful - a great kitchen with newer appliances, comfortable beds, quiet spaces and game spaces, huge deck with a view to die for, ample parking, easy Lake access, nice grassy area on Lake shore with freestanding fire pit (which we used for hot dogs and s'mores), beautiful sunsets, and so much more.
And there are SO many things to do in the area! Some went to Sleeping Bear Dunes, some went golfing, many did wine tastings at the numerous local wineries (Aurora was our favorite), some explored Traverse City, some rented a pontoon boat on Torch Lake, some visited the charming nearby towns of Leland and Glen Arbor, some went swimming in the Lake, some played cornhole (we brought our own equipment), some even spent a day on Mackinac Island.
We usually vacation in a new location each year, from mountains to beach and everything in between, for the chance to visit new places and try new things. For the first time, everyone agreed that we would love a return trip to this wonderful property in Lake Leelanau on Lake Michigan.
From the Owner: "It sounds like you had one amazing vacation and we are so happy we could be a part of that. This location is a special one as you can attest to. 300' of Lake Michigan on the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula with sunset views and surrounded by nature and calm. You are correct, there is so much to do in this area, and once you discover what a gem this place is you want to come back again and again. Thank you for being our guest and we hope that you do get to come back and stay at the Birdsong House."
very nice but limited soap and no shampoo or lotion

From the owner: "We are pleased you found the property very nice. Pump hand soap and bar soap are provided in each bathroom, lotion is not provided. There was a large bottle of shampoo and conditioner at the house although we do not provide it for each bathroom. We are not sure what exactly you needed in addition to what was provided. However, your feedback is greatly appreciated and you are welcome back anytime."
