• The Perfect up North Getaway

  We had an amazing stay at The Bear House! The charming Up North theme, spotless accommodations, and beautiful lake views made for the perfect Northern Michigan getaway. It was peaceful, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We loved every minute and can’t wait to come back! We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and are already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend!

• Unresponsive homeowner of a dirty house

  First of all, we've booked this place, because it said NO PETS, since we have kids with allergies, however this wasn't true at all - lots and lots of pet hair around the house, blankets had stains and overall a lot of dust. Obviously, we had allergy reactions, which basically ruined the stay. The cleaning fee is high, but in addition to all the dirt and dust, we've also found gross microwave with food being all over the inside and not cleaned at all. They ask you to do the dishes before leaving, but leave you one dishwasher tab for 4 day stay.

  If the above isn't enough, the homeowner does not provide any shower gel or shampoo, but that's not indicated in the listing, so you have to drop everything and go to a store to get basic things, that should be provided.

  Directions to get to the house are not provided. The GPS will tell you to go through a state park, so very misleading.

  In general, don't bother trying to reach out to homeowner - you won't get any response.

  Overall, the house is nice and in a good location, but you will sit in filth, pay a huge cleaning fee and will still be asked to do the dishes, strip the beds, vacuum the floors, ut the towels to the washer, etc.

  Do not recommend staying here - not worth it.

Since your stay, shampoo and conditioner have been added for guest convenience, and a charcoal grill has been added to enhance the outdoor experience. As is standard for vacation rentals, guests may be asked to complete a few simple checkout tasks, while the cleaning fee supports the professional cleaning, sanitizing, and preparation of the home for each new arrival.
