  We booked this rental based on the description that you can "walk to beach and Mullett Lake," as well as the Google Maps indicator of a beach at the end of Mullett Burt Road. However, when we walked down and walked along the rail-trail, we found no public beach within walking distance in either direction. The binder at the property indicates that there's a beach "to the left of the Private Property sign" but every beach to the left (north) appears to be private property (many with Private Property signs; I wasn't sure which the binder referred to) and it was not clear if one belongs with this cottage. I tried to reach out to the owners via the Evolve website for clarification and only ever got an error message. We ended up driving to Cheboygan State Park and the Mackinaw public beach.

  The cottage itself was OK but not wonderful. The kitchen sink was a little annoying to use, the ceiling fans were laughably small but surprisingly loud, and the shower door leaked all over the floor. The primary bedroom is very small, and with the closet locked there's not anywhere out of the way to put luggage. The back yard seemed run-down so we never used it.

  On the positive side, the kids did like the bunk beds and reading lights. The rail-trail was really nice for a morning run along the lake; we heard loons but weren't able to spot them, and the sunrise was pretty. The location is pretty convenient to Mackinaw, Cheboygan, and some cute towns nearby, and the price was very reasonable, all things considered.

  - We apologize for the inconvenience with the shower door and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. We’ll take a closer look and make any needed repairs.
  - The cottage has undergone a full renovation after sitting vacant for 23 years, including all new plumbing, roofing, windows, and a newly built bathroom. We understand the vintage kitchen sink and compact spaces may not be to everyone’s taste, but we’ve worked hard to preserve some of its original charm.
  - The backyard was recently disrupted due to a brand-new septic installation, and we’re continuing our efforts to remove old sheds and improve the outdoor space.

  We had a great time and loved all of the thoughtful touches. Especially in the kids room. Clean and cozy! The checkout was a little too early(10 am) especially having little ones to get up and around. Overall we had a wonderful time and highly recommend

  We had a great stay, very close to Mullet Lake and Cheboygan. Communication was good, they had messaged us making sure we checked in okay and if we needed anything. We had a trailer so they sent out someone to clean up the driveway for us. We really appreciated it!
