Thanks so much for the 5 stars! We’re glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to have you back again soon!
This historical home was perfect for our 8 adult family. House is comfortable and furnished for our group - had everything we needed. We were able to have a campfire outside and watch the lovely sunsets. Kitchen fully stocked. Quiet neighborhood in September. Had a few nice days when we took out the kayaks (beach access is across the street) was able to rent a pontoon locally, and walk to gentle hiking trail on Coy Mtn. Decent grocer is a couple of miles south. Alden Bar is around the corner for drinks but don’t recommend eating there. Would love to stay here again!

From the owner: "Thanks for the great review! Sounds like you and your family had an awesome time with the campfires, sunsets, and getting out on the water. Glad the house worked well for your group. We would love to have you back anytime!"
The house was great and the hosts made sure everything you needed was there including two double kayaks and a few more singles! The Wi Fi was solid and location couldn't be beat. The only negative was a few of the mattresses could be improved especially the middle bedroom with the single queen bed. We loved the front porch and would stay there again!

Thanks so much, Beth! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the house, kayaks, and unbeatable location. The front porch is one of our favorite spots too! We appreciate your feedback about the mattresses and will keep that in mind for future updates. We’d be happy to host you again anytime!
Pros:1) Location could only be better if it was directly on the lake instead of across the street. Also, Alden is a very cute town with many very kind people, a convenient market and some decent restaurants/cafes.2) Plenty of space for our two families (six people and one dog total)3) Beautiful sunset view of the lake from the front porch, the expansive lawn, the very large south facing window seat, or the balcony off the upstairs master suite.4) Historic home has interesting architecture and nice gardens5) Kayaks included6) Well provisioned with everything you might need (dishes, cookware, games, fire pit, garbage bags) and plenty that you probably don't (see clutter below)7) Keyless entry through front door or garage8) Netflix, Disney+, and other streaming services on TVs without having to log in to your personal accounts.Cons:1) Beds were uncomfortable, hot, lumpy sacks that might as well have been original to the house2) Décor is true to the pictures, tacky3) House very cluttered (old food, messy piles of cleaning supplies in laundry area and in cupboards, dog food on shelves and in cupboards, old ruined decks of cards, papers, etc). Dishes, cookware, flatware, and drinkware is (overly?) abundant but mismatched and scattered throughout all of the cupboards making it sometimes difficult to find what you need.4) Electric stove has two traditional burners and a built in grill (not griddle). I would have preferred a 4 burner stove to make cooking easier for the six of us. Also, there is no fume hood.Bottom line: we very much enjoyed our three night stay in spite of the terrible beds and the distracting décor and clutter.
