The place was great! Easy to check in, very clean, and walking distance from a beautiful harbor with views of mount desert island.

The location was fantastic - cute little community and a great jumping off point to explore the area. The unit itself contained the door to the old cellar and the bottom edge of the door looked like it had been chewed by an animal. The first night, the tenants upstairs could be heard very easily; the next two nights there were animals running around in the ceiling. Perhaps increased insulation or sound proofing would help. There was no way to lock the exterior door by which you gain access to both units and only one deadbolt on the front door to the ground unit. A bit more security would add to peace of mind.

It was clean, very basic , used as a base for our daytime adventures. It was pet friendly.I am thankful we did not really eat meals in , the dumpster was overflowing when we arrived and the same when we left. Be prepared , you hear every movement from the upstairs apartment and unfortunately no fault of the rental company, that the upstairs was rented to noisy people .The WiFi access was annoying and would not stay connected. These are just small items but it did give an overall impression.

When we arrived, Google Maps led us to a USPS building—which makes sense, because this "apartment" literally shares walls with the post office. Weird start. Then we stepped out of the car to a reeking, overflowing dumpster and followed check-in instructions to a flimsy, unlockable door.Inside, the stairwell smelled like gas. The unit had spider webs everywhere, fly traps crusted with dead flies, a broken kitchen window screen, and a janky back door. The appliances were nice, but the scratched-up floor and flimsy ceiling tiles made it feel half-finished. No closet—just a metal hanger on the back of the basement door. The dining setup? A decent table and two metal prison chairs. But the bed and pillows... oh man. The bed was awful—squeaky, unstable, and possibly street-picked. The pillows felt like they were sourced from a North Korean prison museum. Light poured in through cheap blinds, and the vibe was just creepy. I’ve slept on floors in developing countries and been more comfortable. And yes, the attached musty basement made the whole place smell.Bottom line: save your money. A Motel 8 would be a luxury compared to this. I didn’t expect much—but a decent night’s sleep shouldn’t be too much to ask.
