Some of the positives about this place is that the host was a great communicator and answered our questions and the place was clean enough. There are two living room areas, so we felt there was plenty of space for our group of 5 adults. We also enjoyed the large kitchen and several people were able to work together preparing meals. The lake is beautiful and we brought our own kayaks and had a good time kayaking. However, there was a lot lacking as well. This house is on a very busy road and we were woken up at 5 a.m. by trucks going by and the driveway was a little scary to get in and out of due to a hill that is hard to see around. Though the building is lakeside, there is no view of the lake from inside this unit. You have to walk outside and around the building to get to the shared dock and deck. There are only three seats on a swinging bench on the shared deck, so it was difficult for our group of 5 to spend time together on the deck. Some of the beds were good, but a couple of the mattresses are quite used and the furniture is well used. There hasn't been much upkeep on the yard, so the grass was pretty long and the bushes/landscaping have not been taken care of.
Hi Jessica, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the spacious layout, well-stocked kitchen, and your time on the lake. We followed up with the homeowner regarding your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
-While the home is lakeside, there is no direct lake view from inside the unit, and access to the shared dock requires a short walk around the building. We’ll work to ensure this is more clearly communicated in the listing.
-The road in front of the property is busier at certain times of the day, which may contribute to some traffic noise.
-We’ve checked on the landscaping, and while the grass was recently cut, we’ll continue coordinating with the landscaping team to keep the yard in top shape for future guests.
-Some of the furniture and mattresses are in more frequent use, and we’re reviewing these items to ensure our guests' comfort.
Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback. We hope you had a great time kayaking and enjoyed the lake. We’d love the chance to host you again in the future!
This rental was quite spacious and could easily accommodate more than just the 4 adults we had. The building is older and some minor inconveniences go along with that like a front door that doesn't open all the way and a lack of outlets in several rooms including the second bathroom. The view from the dock is beautiful and the little dock was great for launching kayaks from, but the "shared" deck wasn't really sharable. Another unit has a sliding glass door with no curtains that lead onto it and you feel like you are invading their space if you sit on it. The plants along the driveway needed to be cut back because it was difficult to unload from both sides of the car without pushing plants aside, and if it had rained, getting quite wet. The host was very responsive and was able to assist me when I needed to locate a few items. The kitchen was well equipped and we appreciated the welcome tray of snacks. It was nice to be close to town to get bagels or pizza but the noise from traffic was loud in the front rooms, particularly. Overall a good place to stay with a responsive host.
