From the front i thought i was at the wrong place. The back view is beautiful though. The house was clean except there was animal hair all over the couch. It said no pets so that was a big turn-off. The front part of the house had a smell. Not a good one. I couldn't place the smell but it was very off-putting. Lighting in most rooms was by lamp, not ceiling fixtures. Several smoke detector were beeping from low battery so we had to deal with that right when we arived. The set up is very odd. There are essentially two houses put together. The "back house" you access only by the going out the back door and walking on the deck to the other side. Fyi, the "back house" didn't smell so that's where we stayed. You cant lock the " back house" when you leave though or you cant get back in. The bed in the bedroom needs to be replaced as you slide to the center. I was very disappointed with the house. I feel like i paid a lot of money, too much money, to stay there and we would have been more comfortable and saved money to stay in a hotel. With all of the negative, I am adding that I loved sitting on the back porch in the mornings watching the seagulls.

  • Worth the view

It is a lovely homey place. The view is terrific. It is smaller than pictures make you think but it was plenty of room for us. There were four of us there. Really we didn't spend a lot of time there because we were out sightseeing. You do need to go out on the porch to access the full bath and two bedrooms but we didn't see it as a problem.

I want to start off with the good points. The view from the back did not disappoint. I enjoyed getting up early and drinking my coffee, watching the seagulls catching crabs and fighting with each other. They were quite entertaining. I looked forward to that each day we were there. The location was great. There is a hidden gem right down the road called Tidal Falls that we went to everyday. With that being said, I was very disappointed with the house. The set up is very weird. The front house and the back house are two separate entities. You have to walk onto the back porch to get to the other half of the house. The "front house" had a smell. Not exactly sure what it was but it was weird and not exactly pleasant. The bed in the back bedroom, the one that has the sliding glass doors, was extremely uncomfortable. It was very broken down and you slide to the center. The couch had animal hair covering the majority of it. We did not sit on the cloth furniture due to that. The listing said no pets so that was a big put off right from the start. We paid a lot of money to stay here and I feel like we would have been more comfortable and saved money to stay in a local hotel. I hate leaving this review as the owner was very nice. It has potential if some issues are addressed and I hope they are for future guests.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Crystal, we passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following: We do our very best to uphold high standards of hospitality for our property and provide all of our guests with an exceptional experience.
-We value the cleanliness and condition of our home and we're sorry for any inconvenience about the pet hair concern. Our cleaner assures thorough cleaning, including vacuuming the couch and using lint rollers if needed. In addition, we've received many positive feedback on cleanliness.
    - As the home is a cottage by the water, guests can expect some dampness may occur if the heat hasn't been on.
    - We aim for full transparency and our listing details and photos are accurately advertised. The cottage's layout features separate bedrooms with locking doors to ensure privacy.
    - Guest comfort is important to us and we're sorry if the mattresses didn't meet your preferences. The main bedroom has a Sealy mattress purchased last year, the living room bed has an older, softer mattress, and the guest room has a firm Tempurpedic mattress.
We truly do all we can to make our home the best possible experience, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

Two out of three beds were very uncomfortable. The kitchen had no empty cupboards for the food and staples we brought. Pots we used had to be scrubbed first. Coffee pot was not cleaned out. Somewhat musty smelling. The view was beautiful as the porches overlooked the bay. Upon arrival there were car tracks down the lawn closer to the front door so we unhooked the chain and drove down. One of our family members was still healing from an injured back so getting closer to the door was helpful to unload. However, when we came back after an outing the chain across was padlocked on both sides so we could not get closer to the door. It would have been nice to get a notice ahead of time that they were going to do that. We never heard a thing. Lugging all our things back up to the parking area was a lot.

Good no frills vacation cottage. The bay view was the best part. We would use it again.
