This is a lovely, clean and comfortable property. Everything we could possibly need- from can opener to canoe was provided. The private dock was the perfect spot to see baby loons paddle by. The “pond” was bigger than we expected and so quiet. The hosts deserve a huge “well done” for what they have created. We can’t wait to return!

From the owner: "Dear Kevin and family, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay at our Cottage On Dam Pond. Thank you so much for leaving our house in such a clean and tidy condition! It’s guests like you that makes sharing our home so enjoyable! Best and do come back!"
I went to the site and it was not as described. The house was very close to a busy road, the lake was across the street, and the house had a cigarette smell. I called the people who owned it and they said there was no smoking in the house. I went to a hotel in Augusta.

Hi Kathleen, the homeowners were surprised to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following details:
- We have thoroughly reviewed the listing to ensure our future guests will find the perfect vacation home for their needs. The listing now states that from the home, there is a quick walk across the street, to access the boat dock. We’re sorry if you felt caught off guard by needing to cross the road during your stay. We do provide plenty of suggestions in the listing description of nearby attractions, but ultimately it’s up to the guest how they want to spend their time in the area.
- We do try our best to provide a great environment for guests, but sometimes external factors like the roads are simply out of our control. We're sorry to hear that you experienced difficulty with the road. However, we do provide a map to advertise the home's location in the listing description so that guests can see the approximate location of the home before booking.
- We want our guests to arrive at a vacation home that is 100% ready for their stay, so we take the cleanliness of our properties seriously. We have never experienced problems with bad odors in our home and our cleaning crew did not report anything unusual before your stay. That being said, we apologize for your experience and will look into what may have caused the odor.
- As you can see by our many great reviews, we are accustomed to providing five-star experiences, and we look forward to this property hosting many happy travelers!
This cottage was so immaculate and beautifully decorated. The owner thought of everything a guest may need and supplies were plentiful. It looks brand new and is cozy and comfortable. We loved staying here as it was close to Augusta and Gardiner. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. I highly recommend this property!

Thanks for the great review and hope you make it back to the Cottage On Dam Pond in the near future!!

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cottage on Dam Pond. Everything went very smoothly checking in. Our host, Mark answered any questions we had and was readily available. We had not been to Augusta before and enjoyed Maine Cabin Masters, Fort Western and Cushnoc Brewing.
