Birthday getaway
5/5 My daughter wanted to stay somewhere close to Burkittsville, MD for her birthday because she had recently seen The Blair Witch Project for the first time. I found this listing and thought it was perfect! I read the listing carefully and did make note of the period-specific bedding and accommodations, so we weren’t surprised at check in. The kitchen and the bathroom were very modern and had everything we needed. Elizabeth was very helpful and responsive to any questions I had. I would love to stay here again if given the chance.

Forgeman’s House
5/5 House is charming. Short walk to museum and trails. Note that in keeping with the historical ambiance the lighting in the original house, including the bedrooms, is somewhat dim. The kitchen and bathroom are well-lit, and we’ll stocked. Host was kind enough to arrange for a guide at the museum for us even though it was closed.

family Christmas stay
5/5 My family rented this charming little house for two nights to celebrate Christmas. We loved it! It’s a historical building with modern amenities. It has a small kitchen so cooking for 6 was a bit challenging but where there’s a will, there’s a way! We loved that the Catoctin Mt Park was right down the road. Would recommend staying here for a unique experience!

5/5 The property was great -- having the modern facilities of the kitchen/bath inside such an authentically historic building was something I've never experienced but enjoyed. My family:mother and father both in their eighties, brother and sister in law and nephews, ages 9 & 14 were deeply impressed with the house and neighborhood of Catoctin Furnace. We had a memorable time in Thurmont. Thank you for hosting us!

Unplugged
5/5 In this day and age it’s nice sometimes take a few days from the news and TV and just unplug from the modern world. We enjoyed our step back in time.
