A peaceful retreat
5/5 I spent a wonderful few days in the Catoctin Mountain area, hiking and learning about the local history. The house is really unique and full of rich history. Be ready for some basic furniture, but get immersed into the theme of the property. Elizabeth was extremely responsive and helpful. I definitely recommend a stay here!

Wonderful home
5/5 Our family enjoyed staying at the Forgeman House. We loved the area and it was a unique experience and one that our kids will remember. Be ready to be immersed in history. We loved the very nice touches and the responsiveness of the host.

Birthday getaway
5/5 My daughter wanted to stay somewhere close to Burkittsville, MD for her birthday because she had recently seen The Blair Witch Project for the first time. I found this listing and thought it was perfect! I read the listing carefully and did make note of the period-specific bedding and accommodations, so we weren’t surprised at check in. The kitchen and the bathroom were very modern and had everything we needed. Elizabeth was very helpful and responsive to any questions I had. I would love to stay here again if given the chance.

Forgeman’s House
5/5 House is charming. Short walk to museum and trails. Note that in keeping with the historical ambiance the lighting in the original house, including the bedrooms, is somewhat dim. The kitchen and bathroom are well-lit, and we’ll stocked. Host was kind enough to arrange for a guide at the museum for us even though it was closed.

family Christmas stay
5/5 My family rented this charming little house for two nights to celebrate Christmas. We loved it! It’s a historical building with modern amenities. It has a small kitchen so cooking for 6 was a bit challenging but where there’s a will, there’s a way! We loved that the Catoctin Mt Park was right down the road. Would recommend staying here for a unique experience!
