  • Charming, thoughtful retreat

    5/5

This attached cottage met and exceeded our expectations for a long weekend away. The small original farmhouse has been charmingly restored and decorated. There are so many thoughtful touches--plenty of towels, beach towels, extra linens, blankets, pillows, fans, first aid kit, info, utility drawer, and on and on. The gardens are gorgeous, and led o a nice hike to the Hobo Trail waterfall. We loved the porch and grilling our dinners. Lots to explore nearby. Good value. One caveat for some: the bathroom (as in many houses of this vintage) is on the first floor, and the 2 bedrooms are under the eaves on the 2nd floors up a narrow stairway. But no hesitation giving it 5 stars!

  • Delightful, whimsical, peaceful perfection!

    5/5

This was a wonderful rental! My husband and I and our two kids (ages 12 and 14) stayed here for two nights while our kids attended a day camp nearby. It was delightfully decorated and the screened-in porch overlooking beautiful gardens and birdfeeders was such a lovely place to eat and relax. The place was spotless. We enjoyed the board games and puzzles. The host was very communicative and thoughtful. We thoroughly enjoyed the space and would definitely return. I would enthusiastically recommend it to anyone!

  • A delightful, well-appointed cottage in a serene and gorgeous setting

    5/5

My husband and I are an older, professional couple. We wanted a short getaway in Western MA. Graham's and Peggy's "Homestead" a completely updated 1800's cottage on stunning grounds with perennials, grassers and vegetables, was the perfect place.

We had everything we needed, plus our hosts left us fresh tomatoes from the garden, sparkling water and nice, rich coffee. The hammock in the backyard overlooked the amazingly verdant gardens which spanned up the back hill to a mountain trail which I hiked. There is plentiful deep aquifer well water, potable and delicious.

The cottage was decorated beautifully and had lots of cute accoutrements. We ate all our meals on the screen porch and there was always a wonderful breeze going through. Lights twinkled at night and the peepers were a sweet accompaniment. An antique lazy Susan adorned the large table.

This is not a bustling area; peace and quiet was exactly what we sought and found. My husband fished the Deerfield and caught/released a fairly large Rainbow Trout. I hiked, walked into town to see the Schell Bridge and just read in the hammock. The WiFi worked very well.

On our last day, we went to Mass MOCA in North Adams and we also swam in Laurel Lake, part of Erving State Forest. There was plenty to do within reasonable driving distance.

We felt right at home immediately and our hosts were friendly but respectful of our privacy.

Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway!

  • A hidden gem!

    5/5

The cottage looks as charming as the photos. We spent a week in August and loved this home away from home. Every detail has been considered. We cooked many of our meals in the cute but functional kitchen (minus having an oven). The location and surrounding area are beautiful. We highly recommend a swim in nearby Laurel Lake, and yummy ice cream at the Northfield Creamie. The owners gave us privacy, but were available for any needs. We highly recommend the property!!
